Anyone had a Ford transit automatic..? Looking at a 2004 with the dash push button controls 2.4 turbo diesel I believe... any experience and thoughts welcome....

Our last van had that and it was easy to drive as long as you remember for reverse you push the button twice
Many a time I forgot and only pressed it once then wondered why it wouldn’t move:doh:

Back in 2002 our transport manager drove one into the works
I was in the yard at the time asked him if I could have a drive

drove it out of the yard got to roundabout 300 yards from
the yard
that’s when I was put off accelerated onto the roundabout
sharpish first gear got us going then the gearbox decided
to have a look for second just seemed a long while
before the van was under power
and the traffic was informing me I was in their way so to speak
took it straight back declined the use of it for a weeks trial

and I needed an auto at the time

give it a try but try a few congested roundabouts
before purchase

think it was an early auto clutch shifting manual gearbox
wasnt Impressed

Had one in the Carado dead easy to use averaged between 29 to 35 mpg ( 35 if we stuck with the trucks) Had a few issues with red warning lights but was traced to a bad earth, the Ford engine was great Just adjust your impulse ( if any) to use the third lane and it will be fine! ( If you do decide to floor it it tops out about 83 mph! )
