Hi folks, I changed the gas valve on our Dometic fridge yesterday as it was sticking and not letting enough gas through.
It’s broke so might as well take it to pieces.
It has 2 sets of solenoids one at each end. I guess this is for safety in case one fails.

What really surprised me was the fact that the electrical connections are not shielded in any way.

Presumably the lack of oxygen means a spark couldn’t combust?

No I didn’t, annoyingly they both worked when I put power to them, but the fridge flame now roars as it should.
Could have been the off white filter was gumbed up in the feed pipe, can’t see it in the pics.
I wouldn’t want to take one of these valves apart and reuse it as the seals are very thin.

I am trying to fault find my fridge, what voltage did you use to test the valve?
I am assuming its 12 v. The supply i have to my valve is only 1.5v

Hello, I have 0.85v instead of 1.5v on my solenoid domestic valve (both positive input...). 1.5v is written on it. Is it normal ?
It mean that the solenoid valve controller sent 0.85 instead of 1.5v... do you know why ? I have a dometic tri mixte fridge.... (Electronic board)

its the voltage across both, so two times 0.85 equals about 1.5, I think you will find they are fed in series.

Thats why sometimes a valve seems to be sticking, apply 12v and hey presto, it flies!

Ask me how I found out....

The expensive way!

Are you sure? I tried a 1.5v battery on each input and I have the feeling that the gas burning was better. Blue without yellow and more noisy... But I need to try longer to be sure.
