Fogstar advice please.

Hello. I collected our Carthago Sprinter 417 today after being in storage for 3 months. The fogstar app wouldnt open for either of the two 230a batteries, I also couldnt find them from my phone's bluetooth listing, no 12v from the control board. I drove home for about half an hour, still nothing on arrival, I plugged into the mains so that fired up my Victron 30a charger which went to absortion mode, I tried manually setting it to Bulk but it quickly went back to abs.I left it plugged in for a couple of hours but no joy with finding the batteries on my phone. I have uninstalled the app reinstalled it, re started the phone but nothing. I have just turned on the inverter and started to boil the kettle thats all fine, and the control panel now works and by pressing the habitation battery button it shows pretty full.

I struggle to find the app on my app list but by holding my finger on the app icon and going to ( i ) it shows the two settings below, but I cannot change the alter the notifications. Anyone got any ideas please

Is there an called xiamo that you can use ?
Someone will be along with the correct name shortly.

I presume because it hasnt been used that it has somehow turned off its own bluetooth ?
 
One other thing that might have nothing to do with it. Is location on ? on your phone ?
 
The app is the xia..... app me thinks and I have reloaded that.

I do wonder if there is a problem but I cannot find how to turn location on ! I'm not quite as good on the phone as I thought I was 😀
 
Don't know about the xi.... app but the fogstar app wont work without location being on. is your phone an android?

I had the same problem and it was also that location had been turned off on my phone. Location on - sorted.
 
I will stick to my battery monitor. Tells me everything I need to know.

If ever there is a sustained cyber attack on the UK, it will be interesting to see what stops working. I guess some of the measures could be fairly benign - just turning off the ability to charge batteries in cars and devices would be a little like the fuel protests drama of 2000?

I think it is something to do with the bluetooth, not Fogstar wanting to know where you are. I may be wrong but the location confirms you are within bluetooth range (or something like that)

Nope. Just connected to my victron solar controller via bluetooth, with location enabled and disabled. No difference!

What if you walk out of range so you loose the connection, turn location off and come back. Will it connect? I tend to have location services off as a rule and don’t think I’ve had a problem. I’ll do a trial next time I’m going to the van.

Just for you, tried this too. Reconnected no problem.

The Fogstar Drift app requires location permission for Bluetooth functionality, not to track your location. The app uses Bluetooth to connect to the battery's BMS (Battery Management System) and the location permission is needed by the Android operating system for Bluetooth scanning.

Perhaps Ian_H is using an apple or non android phone ?

I also said earlier the fogstar app needs location on! But it must be an app requirement not bluetooth. I have also just connected to my bluetooth earbuds and truma inetx with location off.
Heres my phone settings as just used:

I will stick with my Dometic/NDS battery monitor.

No location services required. No bluetooth required.

In fact, no App required. It just works - out of the box.

Yes, I know it doesn't tell me all of the things that Fostar wants to tell me ...
But, my Sterling Power batteries don't need me to kwow all that.
They just work, out of the box, as well.
