Probably covered before but I thought to post my experience of it.
I bought mine from another user so no manual.
Anyway, knowing they are tight I applied a little washing up to the rim seals and fitted them without the adhesive strips exposed.

Yes they were tight I applied absolutely the most force I could and they looked as if they were in place. So I exposed the adhesive strips and repeated the process.

I assume they are in place when the shell is roughly flush with the edge of the casing.

There does not seem to be anyway to know the strips are in contact with the mirror back.

What do you think?

Don’t worry too much, the sticky tape seems to only touch in places, so every so often give the guard a push to make sure it’s sitting right.

Surely you can just put a flat object across the open part of the mirror guard, and then measure the distance to the deepest part. Then put the flat object over the front of the mirror and another across the back. Check they are are parallel by checking the inboard and outboard measurements are equal. You can then easily see how far "on" the mirror guard has to go before it's fully "home"?

Looks about right. As fitted by theMirrorGuard owner to mine today. Used a bit of water to ease but still took serious pressing over the mirror.
