Probably covered before but I thought to post my experience of it.
I bought mine from another user so no manual.
Anyway, knowing they are tight I applied a little washing up to the rim seals and fitted them without the adhesive strips exposed.
Yes they were tight I applied absolutely the most force I could and they looked as if they were in place. So I exposed the adhesive strips and repeated the process.
I assume they are in place when the shell is roughly flush with the edge of the casing.
There does not seem to be anyway to know the strips are in contact with the mirror back.
