changing a load of things again
I am planning to go to France over Christmas. leave around the 17th dec for 10-15 days. can i ask a few questions
tunnel or ferry? i have read about aires. is there an app or web site to plan my route? any suggestions welcome
thanks
Billy

I prefer the tunnel as Tesco vouchers make it much cheaper. D/K about aires in December but some may have the water turned off or frozen as it gets really cold inland ; also check the opening hours of shops etc in France over Christmas . Aires in Ski resorts will I assume be ok as tourists and locals will be using them - lots of threads on here about ski ing- give more info about where you are going and the helpful knowledgeable here will be back to you !

Search 4 sites or park 4 night are all the all you will need , tunnel not much dearer than ferry so would go that way and as said before me some aires will have water turned off and take plenty of warm clothing unless you are heading for Spain.
My trip in 2008 at xmas , mainly holland, belgium but a bit of France and it was cold .

At that time of year I’d be tempted to go tunnel as the sea could be choppy but depends on cost between the two.
With regards to your itinerary, I’d say don’t overegg it as people can sometimes be over ambitious with distances or number of places.
All the aires books are good but most people now use park4night & Campercontact apps to get their aire info.
Do your planning though as some aires switch off the water in winter.
ViaMichellin & google are good for route planning but depends on where you want to go and do

we don't have a destination in mind just fancy something different than Christmas at home. as for doing a bit of sightseeing a bit of bike riding (electric bikes).

If one of you is 60 or over you can get 20% discount off the whole ticket (except for cabin cost) on the Newhaven ferry (4 hr crossing) but you have to book by phone to get it.

Depending on where you live, France could be closer than Scotland 🙂
