Hi - currently touring in Europe for first time. We are now in Brittany France but going to move through Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. We took what we thought were 2 full Calor Gas 6kg Propane cylinders. One ran out after a week or so. We are now on our second but looking to get a local bottles in France and then in the other countries. The questions we have are:

1) what bottles would you recommend. For France it seems Le Cube is a good option. What about in the other places?

2) what size pig tails/regulators would we need (pic of our regulator in caravan attached)

3) anything else we should be thinking of?

We are in a caravan.

Hi Samantha

1. Le Cube is fine but I would recommend getting the largest bottle that will fit in your gas locker.

2. This is where it gets more complicated. Pretty much every county in Europe have their own type of cyclinder and take off device.
The pig tail (gas hose) that is currently attached to your bottle will not work with any of them. you will need a new hose and take off attachment, this is not a regulator as you already have that in the gas locker as per your photo.

3. the other issues you will have is getting the bottle in the first place, France is pretty good particully Butagaz (le cube plus others) as you can pay the bottle hire fee at the point of purchase or online anywhere. other countries will require you to have a residential address in that country to aquire a bottle.

4. One option is to look at a refillable bottle, these are available in europe and you can purchase different adapters for use in various countries. This would mean no worries about getting different bottles during your holiday. Good luck.

i see it has been moved to the gas section, thank you, but it has also lost all the great advice offered by everyone

Surprised that moving a thread would lose the history? Is that for definite ?
