As per title , any reason not to attach a charger to the jump lead points under the bonnet, would save lifting the carpet and hatch panel to access the battery terminals directly.

No reason not to use under bonnet connections. In many ways this is preferred, as all charging current goes through the ECU.
Many modern cars don't like direct terminal charging / jump starting

I always charge at these points

I use the 10m EHU lead with an adapter to a 230v domestic socket in the garage. Charges the hab and starter batteries.

Each to their own method.

I think the charging set-up varies between different types/makes of van.

Our Rapido charges both hab and cab batteries on the hook-up. But our previous van - Chausson - ehu only charged the habitation battery. So used to go under the bonnet, as suggested above, to attach a trickle charger for the cab battery. (y)

Our Sunlight Cliff charges both Vehicle and Leisure batteries when on EHU. Also, got the Solar set up so it charges both…..when it’s sunny enough.

EHU been on about 18 hours, give it another 6 and that’ll do for a week or so. (y)
