Our Fiat Ducato 150 bhp motorhome is coming up 2 years old and we have just covered 11,000 miles. I want to get the van serviced by an Authorised Fiat professional dealer in order to get the official stamp in the service book but also to ensure the software is bang up to date. I understand I can get a service done cheaper at an independent workshop however my choice on this occasion is I want a Fiat dealer to carry out the work.
My question is can anyone give me an indication how much you were charged for your first service. We have been in touch with our local dealer in Brighouse and they quoted £250 for basic service and then they quoted £499 for a 30,000 full service!
I found this confusing as all I want is the first service that’s required in the handbook.
The vehicle is a standard low profile van with no warranty issues to report.

I paid £175 for a first low mileage service at Fiat Keswick - good place to combine with a holiday. Coming up to its second year now and know they will want much more but as its only done 8000 miles I will just get another low mileage service done, perhaps with them. When the first service proper service including air and fuel filters etc isn't due until 27,000 why waste money when it's not necessary. It's out of warranty anyway at 2 years and whilst there may be tiny bit of goodwill tolerance for a few months or so I doubt it goes much further than that

If we don't go to the Lakes in April I might try Stoneacre at Cleckheaton. They will almost certainly say I can't have a low mileage but I will tell them that's what I want! Prices always seem to have a bit of tolerance if you manage to speak to someone with some authority.

I will be interested to hear where you go.

Based on previous threads on servicing by a Fiat Professional Garage, you are lucky if you can find one to accept a large motorhome as their ramps are not big enough is the usual excuse, we have to travel miles for warranty recalls etc.
Good luck if you do find one, but dont be surprised at their rip off costs of £110 per hour, Plus the same for fault diagnosis, even if they dont fix it! Check out the previous threads, all the funsters experiences are on there.
I also agree that if you can find a trustworthy independent garage for your 2nd year service, that would be the best way to go, as its the end of your 2 year warranty if its a continental brand, UK vans sometimes get 3 years, I know, I know, it doesn't make sense to me either!
For Fiat Professional I would guess that £499 for a "Full Service" would be about right, but there is always extras on top.
All the best.

A low mileage service is generally around £200. and you get the stamp in the book.

Fiat Professional/Iveco commercial dealer, North East Truck and Van.
Year 2 £129, Year 3 £280 inc MOT and fuel filter, Year 4 £280 inc Mot and fuel filter. Year 5 £1040 inc MOT, full belt/water pump kit, brake fluid change, air filter.
Oil and filter change at each service.
They’ve already told me this years service in July will be a low priced one.
Year 1 was done by Motorhome dealer on purchase.
I used to go to our nearest FP car/van dealer (Jordan’s) with our previous motorhome but discovered they sent it to a local van servicing centre because their ramps couldn’t take the weight, though they didn’t tell me that, I found out.
2014 2.3ltr 150bhp.

Our 150bhp Fiat was serviced at year 2 in 2019 - the Fiat dealer said as we also were at around 11k miles it only needed a oil and filter change

Total cost £185

I was charged at £462 by Fiat professional in Bristol in 2018 for the first service at 2 years. I had a 3 year warranty.
I’ve not been back !
I dont think that they are used to motorhomes.
Thankfully i have now been put onto a Fiat car dealer who is used to Motorhomes so would be good if you can find one localish to you.

How much,,,your joking.BUSBY.

Amazes me that folk spend £50K + in many cases ++ then object to paying to look after them

I do see there is an argument about what do you get for the money , but what price peace of mind and no quibble warranty ?

Who do you go to now? We're south of Bristol and a first service will be due shortly. Imperial (or Motus or whatever they are now) are the only FP in Bristol since Simonstone closed.

mikebeaches recommended Huttons at Bleadon just outside Weston Super Mare. He has been going there for 9 years and I was impressed with my first visit. They are Fiat dealers.
There is a bus-stop outside for whiling away the time in Weston with fish and chips on the front!
Used the drive down from north Bristol to do a bit of an italian tune up just in case (mot time as well as service)

Yes, as Riverbankannie says - Huttons at Bleadon are OK. And whilst predominantly a Fiat car dealer, there are 3 major motorhome retailers in the vicinity - Highbridge Caravans; West Country Motorhomes and Davan - which means lots of Ducato-based vans to be looked after. ;) :giggle:

They had a few Just Go hire campers in when we went.

When I rung my local fiat dealer Preston based for the first service they were trying to push for a brake fluid change 11000 miles. Did I go there did I not?

I lived that way a few years back and had occasion to use Huttons on a previous Ducato based PVC. They were fine and, as far as I can recall, fair price. I might go back to them for my first service in March as Davans are nearby and my nearest Weinsberg dealer for the warranty check. Thereafter, it’s strictly local, trusted garage.

£100+ for ‘filtering elements’ obviously not oil or air. I’m assuming fairly low mileage at that stage so what would that be? Fuel, pollen? Either way, sounds expensive and possibly unnecessary?

I've recently been quoted £550 and £500 plus £54 if brake fluid requires changing. van hasn't done 4500 in 2 yrs yet. Up until the van and the toad we've never bought new and ive always serviced vehicles myself, i don't like paying for simple jobs that i could do myself, however add a bit of difficulty and age to the vehicle eg my sons 15yr old corsa deisel gear linkage and taking 2 days to do an hours job; i would have been more than happy for him to pay someone else. My bruises agree with me.

Am i worried there wont be stamps in the book? No
Dont intend selling either. There will be lots of receipts. Not that the grim reaper would be interested.

I would agree. Our mileage is approx 5 - 6 k a year, more than some MH but less than a working van.
Thats why i am now with Hutton’s, they are willing to advise and discuss but i think at 5 years later this year it will be a pricey one again with cambelt change.

Apparently I am now needing to take our van to the nearest Fiat Professional garage as despite having had a new EGR valve fitted the fault won't clear down and there's concern that the new part is faulty (our garage does not want to entertain the hassle of removing and returning parts possibly suspect under a warranty arrangement as it ties up their cash for too long  ). Their hourly rate is £120/ph ..... I can just see this all costing us way beyond what is sensible for a part that serves no function other than to illuminate a pretty yellow icon on the dashboard and give Fiat a free-dip into my back pocket for the privilege!

Ducato safety recall arrived in the post this morning, something to do with brake line retaining clip may not be fitted correctly. Mine is a 2018 X290.

If you want to follow Fiat's recommendations then it is due the 30,000 mile service, because the criteria is two years or mileage, whichever comes first. The cost sounds about right. I take mine to an independent now but used a Fiat place while it was under warranty, which was three years for my PVC. :)

The 2nd year service on our fiat based motorhome is coming up shortly. I got the brake line recall today and booked it into SG Petch a Fiat dealer in Darlington. I also enquired about a low mileage (11000 miles) 2 year first service and it was £220 + vat. Seems a reasonable price so I will be getting it done there.

Thanks for the info Annie. MH booked in for the recall and a bit of other work in 3 weeks time. It's worth noting that they can get a 7.5m long, 3m high MH onto their ramps. The service assistant wasn't sure what the ramp limit was, but mine is OK.

Our local Fiat Pro dealer told me if your yearly mileage is below 10,000 km then it should be serviced yearly, otherwise it should be done at the recommended time/ mileage.
Their charge for its first service us around €350.
Ours is 15 months old and covered 16500 miles. I’ll be having the first service next month when I expect the mileage to be around 18000, before our trip to Slovenia at the end of May.

Just been quoted £496 by Fiat Professional about an hour or so drive away. Two year old, 150, Auto with 4500 miles on clock not that mileage matters in this context anyway. Local independent quoted £332 for the same service. I have compared both quotes and parts are exactly the same but FP go in to rip off mode. Will also get a courtesy car from local garage. Guess where I will be going. Asked them to quote for my car also; hopefully cheaper than main dealer who wants £410. (y)

No objections to paying to look after them. But why should we accept being ripped off? There is no warranty issues using an independent

Just had the quote of £560.40 for a 2nd year service at my local Fiat Pro centre!!!
They want to do oil, fuel, pollen and air filter and brake fluid change - on a 3400 mile vehicle.
The oil is still clear.
I've asked them if Fiat recommend all this work.

There is another thread HERE with some ideas.
