Well, after persevering with the B544 dodgy clutch, it's finally gone in for new clutch. Garage said it's not easy job, but quoted about £600 all in. The release bearing is hydraulic and gives up releasing after a while if it gets hot. Apparently a poor design, but thats Fiat/Peugeot for you.

The problem we were having was the clutch would stay down after changing gear meaning we had to hook it back up with toe after pressing it down. After driving back fro Hereford last week, the gear changes were getting harder, sometime the gears would crunch.
