Sorry if this has been covered before.
We have an Autotrail Vline on a Fiat.
The book supplied has conflicting information about the length of time the van is covered by Fiat Camper assist.
There is one sentence that says vans registered in UK have 3 years, But elsewhere it says Camper assist is available for the length of the vehicle warranty, ie 2 years.
So which is it? Our van is 2 years old in November.
Also, is it safe to rely on this in remote countries?
We are thinking of going to Turkey next year, Turkey is covered according to the book. Unfortunately many recovery policies (eg comfort) only cover the far western (european) part of turkey. So it would be good to rely on the Fiat policy.
Thanks

I believe the 3 years only applies if the base vehicle was purchased through a UK Fiat dealership. Most motorhomes are built on vehicles ordered direct from the Fiat factory and are only covered for 2 years, unless you purchased the extended warranty when it was new. Log in to myCamper at
and then go to my services (head and shoulders icon) and it will tell you when your Camper Assist expires.

and, from memory, the third year was covered by FIAT Professional rather than the manufacturer.

Thanks for the replies. I tried the mycamper site, I could see no mention at all of camper assistance. It had the correct base vehicle but everything else was about servicing. The comment in the warranty handbook says "Campers regitered in the UK are entitled to 3 years of roadside assistance" but elsewhere it says only applies during the contractual warranty. Hence the question since mine will be 2 years later this year.

Our Hymer which I bought in Belgium had a 2 year warranty but Fiat Camper Assist was 3 years. Unfortunaly only found out after paying for breakdown cover for the 3rd year. It does say it in the Camper Assist book.

This is where I found the details on myCamper.

Thanks. Unfortunately it doesn't work on mine! Same page but mine just shows the image of the van as a 290 series, and the name and reg of the van, but no mention of any camper care! Since the date on yours is 2024 I am guessing that you bought the extended warranty, maybe that is why it is different.

Yes I bought the extra years and that might make a difference. Could be worth phoning Fiat Camper Services 00 800 34281111 to check what period of warranty they have you down for.

Watch out if you're phoning that from a mobile as 00800 are not always free on some networks!

Thanks for the replies. I will try ringing to check it. I need to know whether or not to buy a breakdown policy from someone else.

Re the above. I rang the Fiat camper assist number, asked for customer service. Was put through to a very helpful man, apparently in Italy. He checked the vin number and comfirmed that the Fiat camper assist for my van is indeed 3 years. The contact was all very efficient, I am impressed! The 3 years will certainly apply to all Autotrails, and I guess to most other UK vans too.
Thanks again for your input.

A little thread resurrection here....

What does the Fiat Camper Assist cover in the 3rd year if your warranty is finished at 2 years. Say you breakdown - are they just going to take you to a Fiat Professional garage and then leave you subject to their ridiculous prices or would they take you to a garage of your choice?

Recover to home?

Repair at the roadside for free if possible?

Anyone got a link to Fiat Camper assist terms and conditions?

Just wondering whether to get breakdown cover for year 3 just in case.

Iff I have remembered correctly to get the 3rd year Fiat warranty the supplying dealer had to register with Fiat the 1st vehicle owner within 30 days of the vehicle registration.

As I understand it, a FIAT camper sold new in UK, carries a FIAT 2 year warranty and 3 years FIAT Camper Assist (breakdown cover).

Thought Id try and register with Fiat Assist. The system wont recognise my Reg no or VIN.

Perhaps the vehicle has not been registered on the fiat system. I think the dealer who sold it new should have either,
a) registered it with Fiat or
b) told you to visit a Fiat Professional to get it registered.
A Fiat Professional garage or the dealer should be able to sort it out.

Not sure there is much benefit now TBH, van will be two years old at the beginning of May.

Fiat camper assist is covered by the RAC in the UK, so even if you breakdown abroad you ring the RAC UK number. You could give them a call to see if you are covered. Assuming you don't mind spending hours on hold.

As said earlier on the thread it depends on where the chassis was sourced, Hymer etc., it will be Germany so a 2 year warranty, Swift it will be UK sourced so a 3 year warranty.

When I broke down last year I phoned the Camper Assist number first (Italy) and they set everything in motion. I was phoned by the RAC who kept in touch until their patrol arrived. The RAC then arranged for the pick up by a local contractor (over 3500kg) who took the motorhome into their storage overnight. The next day they moved it from their Norfolk storage to Adams Morey in Portsmouth.

It might be a good idea to make sure it is on the Fiat system anyway, recalls and such like.

It's all to vague for my liking. I'll arrange cover with Comfort when I renew my insurance. Says from £73 and it includes Europe so hopefully it won't be much more than that.

When you rang camper assist did you get press 1 for France 2 for Germany etc. That puts you through to the breakdown company for your home country i.e RAC.

Edited to add. If you wish to speak to someone at fiat in Italy hold the line to the very last another country.

Are you sure? When I phoned them on the same number in 2020 I got through to an English speaking operator in Northern Italy. We discussed the pandemic and how things were getting very bad in Italy before the UK was hit a few weeks later. Perhaps it has changed since then. I recall being asked to select a language not a country.

Yes that's what I got on the phone ringing the camper assist number. As I was trying to speak to someone in Italy holding on till the last option any other country worked.
