Has anyone used the fiat breakdown service ? I’m not sure wether to stick with it (as it’s currently free) or get a AA type scheme .

thoughts and experiences ?

I've always found including it with the insurance the easiest and most competitive option. We use Comfort.

I have never used it per se on either of my vans BUT it was extremely useful cos all the 'Fiat Main Agents' who dealt with the breakdown for Fiat are listed in the book you get given on handover so when we needed a new road wheel (due suddenly contacting a ruddy great granite block concealed by overgrown grass on a verge, aargghh) when almost at St Cirq la Popie, which is on the border virtually of two different departements, we were able to locate the nearest one (as opposed to the one miles away in the dept we were actually in) and get it sorted out within 36 hours.

Shedloads of mohos of different marques in and out the workshop all the time we were there.

We used it twice on our previous van = both for tyres - very good service then - we had to ring an Italian number then - don't know if this is still the same -

Hi, we used the Fiat breakdown service in UK last weekend. They were very helpful, but the initially the quoted wait was over an hour. After an hour’s wait we phoned and had a bit of a moan, they apologised and arranged for an alternative recovery service. An RAC chap turned up within 20 mins.
Incidentally we used the What3Words app which enabled them to identify our location to within 3m!! Download it today, it’s invaluable in emergencies.
