Hi everyone, my friend is stuck in Lincolnshire and his Fiat Ducati has just had the 5th gear fail on him. He and family are booked to go to France on Wednesday but looks like they will have to go back home for repairs unless they can find a garage nearby who can fix it. Has anybody got any garage recommendations in Lincolnshire for repairing this problem ? They can get into 4th gear but 5th keeps jumping out or has no traction.

its not too bad to do and coastal motorhomes probably have the bits required, unbolt end cover remove c clip from one gear then knock out roll pin and slide off selector fork and syncro hub and replace with new syncro and gear you will need to count how many teeth on both the gears to get the right one, (the small teeth on the gear that engage with the syncro hub have probably gone) try to catch the oil when you take off end cover so you know how much to put back in

chatteris Mate dashed home in 4th gear and did the job himself, followed your instructions plus a bit of website searching. It took a couple of hours to do and longest bit he recons was replacing the oil with a syringe due to there being no access to the plug from the top. He made his original target of tunnel tonight. Thanks.
