Ferry to Dieppe

Newhaven i got there very early and yes vans were parked and yes they did come along and wake people up.
At Dieppe the gates are very close to the Round about and no vans were parked anywhere near the gates.
Won't be doing that route again anyway so irrelavant.
But lessons learnt.

Loads of space infront of the booths.
You can stop in the area I outlined, the gates are only on the exit not the entry.

Why won't you do it again Bob?
Our favourite crossing.

Ah yes coming back to me now (and it was only last week). But i didn't see any vans parked up when i arrived there, and not knowing i went to the aire.
The ship was fine, food was fine (especially the cornish pastie), the cabin was good.
The time at Newhaven waiting to board, same at Dieppe is the main reason. But that's about all sea crossings.
For the last few years apart from a couple of Santander/Bilbao we have used Eurotunnel. Find it so much more convenient. Most of the time we don't get chance to go into the main building, if offered a earlier train it is usually go straight to it. Suits us fine.

Yes and that same machine that should have given me my ticket back after validating it did not (tech you see). So all sorts of issues for me trying to get out at 5am. Lady on the intercom not understanding English, me not understanding French. It was a close call but eventually sorted it.
At €14.50 overnight i don't think it's expensive. Had i been a little earlier i would have got EHU put the 4 posts i was near were all claimed..................that little seperate bit at the end.
I agree Dieppe is very very nice.
Unlikely to use that route again.
I always carry a EHU spliter, do as the France do, pull one out and connect your and theirs to the spliter.

Stopped using the Dieppe Aire when the price shot up from €7 to €12.
Leaving an Aire at 5 am is very anti social you are not supposed to leave Aires before 7am. If leaving that early why not stay at the port.
That Aire is mainly for those arriving/leaving to/from the Ferry port, I think €12 for a clean, safe place and with grey/chemical disposal is great being on the door step of the ferry port, the main Aire for the town is on the other side, the Aire camping-car Dieppe Mal. Foch.

More French use than people going to the port quite a few free Aires less than an hours drive from the port.

We are going on the ferry to Dieppe arriving on a Friday but will stay at the port aire and will visit the market on Saturday before leaving it’s a great marke.

Port Aire?? Do you mean in the line to the entry gate or the one a 100 mts or so around the corner in full sight of the ship?

In the one round the corner. Getting more expensive every time we stay there but it's convenient for the ferry.

Watching this as we have booked this crossing for the first time for next winters jaunt, prices seem much cheaper at weekends than through the week, does anyone know when they release next year's dates?
We planned to use our Tesco vouchers for a return on the tunnel only to find out you can't use them from Calais 🙈
Not sure if this has been answered.

You can book a return but not a single from Calais

Doudeville Aire is about 30 mins away from Dieppe, easy drive, hard standing with facilities, oh and it's FREE !!

Eurotunnel is way too expensive for us now the frequent traveller is history.
The Newhaven/Dieppe crossing is cheap and relaxing in our opinion…….and the pasties are the best outside of Cornwall !

I have said this for some time.

Cheapest one way is around £130, but few and far between.

You have to spend a lot at Tesco to get enough vouchers. Their fuel points have been reduced yet again too’.
