mid Jan to Cherbourg. drive through France to Spain and onto Madrid. from there head south towards Malaga and all points in between then turn right and head to Portugal and slowly follow the warm weather north.

Our plans are always flexible and depend mainly on which way the wind is blowing. !!

some advice please....
good campsite or aire near Madrid with easy access to public transport. we want to stay 4 or 5 days and have a good look around Madrid
same for Malaga.
and finally for Lisbon - again envisage staying 4 or 5 days

we will suck it and see for Portugal and hope to return to UK sometime early March.

many thanks in advance

Burgos Area city centre. Free parking, popular place for motorhome overnight parking, quiet at night even tho in centre of town. Good town to wander around.
Marina at Ayamonte very close to Spanish/Portuguese border (Spanish side). Lovely little town and easy to walk to from marina. Entrance via barrier, pay at machine €10.
Happy travels!

Campercontact only lists one aire near Madrid with services but there are a couple of campsites open in January.

Are you able to provide further details for this ‘aire’ as it doesn’t seem to be on the usual Apps?

On Campercontact app. Very handy stopover with nearby Alcampo for supplies.

Be aware that there are no longer any filling or waste disposal facilities at the Burgos aire. They've been removed. Other than that, nice city and there's a good launderette round the corner.
