Did you see it on ITV4 last night, a very good history of Triumph.

Tonight, 21:00 it's the turn of Norton.

And I've always believed my son - a Design Engineer there - when he has run through the complicated technical aspects of their motorbike production!!

And tonight was Ducati.

Mr Cole gets up my nose but these three programs have been very good indeed. No doubt available on catch-up somewhere.
 
Missed tonight's offering but watched the Norton last night....
Any wonder the Brit bike industry floundered.

Developers designed the featherbed frame, the greatest thing to come from Norton.....then stick a four year old engine in it.
That engine was only a revamp of a very very old design in itself.

While the Brits were still turning out vertical twins Soichiro Honda was turning out inline 6 cylinder 250 machines.

Vertical twins with 360 degree cranks and no balance shaft no less :xgrin:. It's no accident that Honda designed the best-selling motorcycle ever made.

And The the oldest and longest run of continuous Motorcycle building is actually The Royal Enfield and not Triumph.
