Evening, I would like to add a couple of extra reading lights under/on the shelf above our Burstner Solano T725 as its quite dark when sitting in the swivel chairs and I was wondering if anyone has done the same and if so where is the best place to pick up a 12v supply from?? Before I start to pull panels apart. Thank you.

If possible the nearest lighting supply. It'll be more than capable of coping with a couple of extra lights.

I'm not too sure as the wire seems so thin? It does into a round base and the supply to the spot light is picked up off two runner bars so the spot light can slide up and down if that make sense, I dont know if the wire is terminated behind the panel which the light is mounted on but that panel also houses the main van control panel ie water/ waste tank, battery voltage ,pump and so on so I didn't fancy pulling that around too much if I can help it.

As tonyidle says. I fitted 2 shallow recessed led lights into the roof lining of the fiat cab on my last van. Ideal for reading in the evening. Must get around to doing it on the new one.

On our first mh I fitted a couple of extra lights as long as they're all LEDs I think the wiring will be fine we have an led torch we use for dog walking known as the "shite lite" it has tiny batteries and has lasted a year so far it cost £1 !!!!. I know yours are going to get a lot more use but if you think how many LEDs you can run for the same power as one halogen I recon it will be fine.

If you wire it from the track lighting switch then you won't need to wire in a seperate switch if the new spots don't have one. As already said, the wires will easily cope with a few LED light

As you know, we have the same van as yourself. Thought long and hard about the same thing. I did some experiments with different led's and as I am quite tall and the possibility of shadows from lights fitted under the shelf, I think I have decided to fit a line of three of these on each side of the van where the seatbelts hang.
Probably a bit lower than shown on the image so that they illuminate your lap where the book will be?

The long trim panel comes off with 4 screws and will give access to the top cupboard where the track lighting feed comes in or access to the leisure battery locker below the tartan rug.

Good luck
