Had the MOT extended until 22 November. Was booked in for 20th. Wonder whether they'll further extend the date for MOT?
Will ring garage tomorrow and see what their view is. They normally go to where van's stored and take it and bring it back.

Ours was extended and will lapse this January, not going anywhere so I'll sort it before we next use it.

You have to be sure that your vehicle is roadworthy, garages remain open and delay will just create a huge backlog which garages won't be able to cope with later on. I had both my cars done during the last lockdown to be sure that they were roadworthy. Essential for shopping and the odd occasion I have to go to "work" doing VAT returns for my son's pharmacy.

Ours is booked for 17/11 garage has free collection service so hoping that will still be working🤞🤞🤞🤞

Our motorhome is booked in for Friday, brand new engine management warning light on,

if the main fiat dealer is open, will be interesting to see what the attitude is taking the MoHo 40 miles from storage to the dealer and back!

seens as it’s only done 67 miles perhaps should get Fiat to recover it!

The nearest garage I tried could not book me in for 3 weeks as they had a backlog, might be worth Keeping the booking you have got

Our scooter MOT is due but, with the lockdown in Wales we have had to cancel. Prior to the national lockdown we were not allowed to leave our county and, being a very small county, we have no motorcycle dealerships here.

Our van is booked in for service and MOT this Thursday, 5 November!

I'm expecting it to go ahead, but will no doubt find out in the next day or so.

The MOT was due at the end of June, but extended to the end of December so a bit of time to spare.

But I don't think MOTs will be extended again.

Government has indicated it wants businesses to stay open and folk to travel to work if they can't do their job at home. That is of course with the exception of the sectors that have been ordered to close ie hospitality, hair and beauty etc.

Likewise. MOT expired (with Vehicle Road tax) on 31st October. Tried to arrange test at end of September at my Lancing company. Earliest date given to me was 10th November. So I have SORNed the van and will ring them tomorrow to see if my appointment date is still on! Aware that is legal to drive to and from the MOT test centre.

Mot and service booked for Tuesday as we will be in tier 2 for a week at least.

Why leave it to the last minute when you already had an extension?
Who are you asking? We were locked down in France until September. We made our appointment as soon as we arrived back in the UK. So we didnt leave it till the last moment.

Right. i didnt realise there was no travel allowed from france until September. From what I read today it looks like they may be able to do MOTs.

Yes the garage have told me today that they are able to carry out the MOT as planned.

Garage services will continue just as they did in the first lockdown. Although individual garages may decide to close.

Phoned my MOT garage 10mins ago and asked about getting MOT done on the motorhome tomorrow. He offered my half a dozen times I could pick from. So plenty of availability.

My car is booked in for service and warranty work next Thursday, had an email today saying they are still open.
They are also still doing car handover just the showroom that’s shut.

The Martyn Lewis website says no e MOT extension for this lockdown

  • You can take your car for its MOT.
Although MOT expiry dates were extended during the first lockdown earlier this year, mandatory testing resumed on 1 August. This isn't set to change during the second lockdown in England, though the Department for Transport says it will 'continue to monitor the situation as it evolves'.

One of my motorbikes required a service whilst we were in the 'county' lockdown

There is no Suzuki dealer in my county, as the bike was under warranty, I contacted Suzuki to ask if I could get the bike serviced later than it was due & retain the warranty (bike is 1 year old, bought new) especially as the mileage was way below the service mileage & I had no opportunity to use it.... 🙁

Suzuki got a local dealer to contact me, told me I could ride it to/from them as it is considered essential - they also offered to collect/deliver

I chose to ride it there & back, but could have loaded it into my moho... Sorted

Since then we have been put in national lockdown, ends Monday 9th November - but you are still allowed to get an MOT

Whereabouts are you in South Wales?

Vale of Glamorgan, but all is now resolved with the lifting of lockdown. Our “preferred” dealership, (outside our county boundary), that we have used for over thirty years was closed during lockdown, including their workshop.

We have a habit of, if we find a tradesman/business that we trust, tending to use them. We have bought four motorcycles and one scooter from them and never had a problem. Always willing to help and give free advice when we have approached them.

I accept your comments but like to use a company with a trusted record.

I realise, having re-read my post, that it sounds a little curt. I don’t mean it that way, but can’t think of a better way to phrase it, sorry. Thanks for the post.

No probs, I'm the same regarding loyalty where I get good service 🙂
