I did have a 100 watt panel on my mh
The mppt controller is fitted above the oven in my tec tower for some strange reason . The cable to my battery bank is 4mm which is routed down the back of the fridge down to the chassis then into the battery's a run of 6.5m.
I have fitted two new 175 watt panels
I Intend to move the mppt 100/30 amp controller into the battery compartment and connect to the battery with 16mm cable .
What cable should I use to connect to the solar from the panels which will be 6.5m

When I installed my solar panels, I ran 6mm^2 cable from the controller by the batteries to the roof. This then branches to short 4mm^2 cables to the 2x Solar Panels

I'm no expert but would have thought 16mm cable would be a bit ott for a short run from the regulator to battery. The good news on the longer one is its going to be a higher voltage before the regulator so will help keep the cable thickness reasonable.

why 16mm cable OP from the MPPT to the batteries.
6mm all round will suffice, 4mm tbh but future proofing in case you add more solar/mppt

I know the 16mm is ott for a 400mm run but I already have about a meter available
Just wondering what thickness to use for the 6.5m run

There are lots of calculators to work out Voltage drop. It would be better if you know the panel voltage to calculate the required cable.

That's a good reason for using 16 mm as long as it will fit in the terminals. I looked up cable for a 1% loss at half a metre for the max of your panel I think 6mm was fine. What is the panel voltage?

I was a little optimistic when i said 16mm cable I think it needs a ferrule on the end for it to fit

For a 30a controller, 10mm2 is more than enough.
