Anyone got any comments on using either of the club sites for booking Eurotunnel and getting discount?

If you want to change anything over a week-end, you are stuffed. Amendments have to be made through the club and they don't work week-ends.
That's a very good point

I think I also read that one charges more for dogs, than going direct.

No they charge £22 each way same as direct with ET, I think the person who got charged more at checkin did not add dog to their booking. See screen shots of booking via C&MC with and without dog.

If you get Tesco Clubcard points you can buy your crossing on the tunnel free, and it is amendable. But I think the original crossing needs to be booked at least two weeks before.
Always used Tescos Clubcard in the past but not got any points this time.

I'd always book direct for the reason others have given ie you're somewhat stuffed out of Club office hours if changes are required. Also believe they may charge amendment fees.

Whereas, you can change your booking online on the Eurotunnel website without any admin charges. No brainer for me. (y)

Can’t book new refundable ticket with clubcard not sure about the camping clubs. I no longer use clubcard points to book for this reason, maybe will again in the future but I do like the knowledge I can cancel anytime and get full refund. Prices are a lot higher than they used to be!! Remember about 10 years ago it was around £140 return, £370 this year including approx £30 for the refundable price and that was booking in March, £560 if booked today. !!

We were getting about £70 each way until our FT tickets ran out, been using the ferry since but probably going to pony up the extra next trip ferry just takes soooo long, DFDS yesterday took 3.5 hours in total Dover Calais and then an extra 15minutes drive both sides. Much nicer and faster and safer these days on tunnel, worth paying the extra.

What's the exorbitant charge for dogs about anyway, other than just another way to make money? We've already been screwed by the vets for nothing more than a chip check and a piece of paper.

I guess for the extra checks they have to do and £22 is not exorbitant but the ACH is but that's wot the people voted for apparently!

Good reason to have a cat and leave it at home

I was the person who supposedly didnt add my dog on the booking. Which is still in discussion with ccc as they requested all the other dog info and in our opinion omitted him from the booking. Even so it isnt fair they charge another £22 for the dog because of the cock up. Just got you over a barrel. Euro tunnel wouldnt of charged the extra the check in lady even said it was a rip off.

I think much the same for us. We are in France at the moment, having used an old 2019 F/T ticket. I think we had to add £11 for the van to the standard circa £45 we paid per single crossing.

We've got two singles left - one to get home next week, and another to use before 31/12/22 - the final cut-off date. 😊

After that we'll still use the tunnel in preference to ferry from Dover.

However, we may occasionally consider western channel crossings, which are often more convenient for us living just outside Bristol.

When is the cheapest tunnel and ferry. Middle of the night?
Something we have never really thought about but if its much cheaper might be worth the mither.

Don't know why more people don't go later in the day instead of paying to camp this side for the night they might as well go over and spend the night at gravelines for £7.
Then ready for the off first thing in the morning.

Off peak from Folkestone is after 4pm. Coming back from Calais before 2pm.

There seem to be 2 aires at Gravelines - which one do you use ? The one by the marina, or the other one?

We only ever use Gravelines 2. The one by the AA water park. Good walking along the road or around the lake. Again quick and easy to find and available all hours; reasonably.
