Hi, we're off abroad for a couple of months. I'm considering getting Elvis insured as vets bills abroad could be crippling.

Do others take out pet insurance ?

Any recommendations ?

Cheers

Yorick

Meg is insured with Petplan which covers her for vets bills abroad (less the excess of coiurse). We do take out an additional 3rd party insurance for her (£1,000,000) in case she trips up someone who sues, this is around £12 a time. The standard 3rd party insurance only covers her in the UK

Not sure Yorick will get the wife to check and get back to you
But I don't think so ? maybe wrong :cautious:

No does NOT cover you for usual vet fee but the repeat flea and tick if your carrier delays your return trip and the pets flea and worm runs out is

P.s we are off for 6 months on the 12th Nov (y) Going south and Morocco in Jan for 3 months then back up into Italy Austria n Germany
so for us for such a period of time seems well worth it

If you are staying in one country for a substantial period consider registering the dog chip with the Countries national database(through local vet) If pouch goes walkabout the UK database is not checked ,if the dog tag is missing they cannot tell its an English dog as the bark has no accent!
