Five years plus three tugging
Is developing a squeak as it descends/ascends. I read somewhere that the weight of the mattress/bedding is an issue. Can't quite believe it myself, but wondered what others had found.

Is it just a matter of finding the squeak and applying a smidgen of grease? Or is this a more serious problem?

Probably just need a squirt of wd40, may be the runner guides or the motor / winder guides / mechanisms.

Or you have a family of mice living it up in the bed somewhere.

I found silicone spray more effective. Used wd40 silicone but others are available.
As I read it effective on metal to metal aluminium and nylon all of which are on my Pilote bed mechanism .

Don't use (ordinary) WD40 would be my advice! It attracts muck and it's not good for certain plastics and definitely not for anything rubber. Silicone spray is a very safe bet, it dries to a clear non-sticky coating and is absolutely the stuff to use on any sliding surface.

Perfect for the rubbers around opening cab windows, for the clickety-click stays on hab windows, and for any zips - plus the closing blade on loo cassettes, silicone spray does rubber seals no harm and keeps them soft. The cheap stuff on Ebay is just as good as the posh branded stuff. Every van should have a tin.
