Hi everyone. I have recently acquired a van and an efoy system. I'd like to check if the efoy works properly before I go to the expense of shipping down fuel.
Is there anyone near me (St. Agnes Cornwall) that has a fuel cartridge I can borrow to check it over ? I will drive the van over to you for the test.
I'd be happy to supply cash or wine for any fuel used.

If you happen to be passing near Poole I can provide a little fuel for you to run a test.

Fuel Cell Systems at Hungerford are very helpful and it might be worth talking to them, they might be able to point a Cornish customer in your direction. I save on shipping costs by buying the fuel at their premises when passing. If you are travelling along the M4 it is easy enough to divert off and use a few miles of A4 through Hungerford. They are on a small industrial estate with a reasonable amount of parking and turning space for a motorhome.

If your Efoy software needs updating you can borrow an updater from Efoy, free of charge. Very easy to use.

I can't help as I am way too far away but have you tried switching it on? does it know that it needs fuel as that would be a promising start.

Another thought. You can check on the control panel for fault codes and running time. If there are no faults and there has been running time since it last recorded needing service fluid or fuel it is probably ok. Have you got a user manual? If not there is a link here.
Good idea to get service fluid as well as fuel, the service fluid can dry out if the unit has been standing around unused. The fault code will tell you.

Thanks all for your replies. One more question- Is just your thin waste water flexi pipe draining to the outside or are you also venting the waste heat to the outside ? I've seen both configurations and I'm wondering which is correct. I have plenty of air around the system and don't have a problem with a little extra heat as mostly used for winter trips.

Just the water drain pipe needs to go outside as long as there is enough space around the unit for cooling.

My waste heat is vented externally through the floor. The installation instructions say to vent externally if the device is mounted in a confined space but they are not specific about how small “confined“ is. I therefore guess it is not overly critical. On boats they say to vent to the bilges which again suggests the venting is optional.

I have had Efoy in three MH,s and always vented outside, extremely reliable, the Ethanol has a shelf life which necitates good practice.

I installed it in the garage of our Flair so plenty of air to keep it cool and I argued that it would only ever be working in the cooler weather so would help keep the van warm, worked fine.

When I picked up my latest supply of Efoy fuel I asked about the shelf life and what caused the deterioration. I found the reply interesting, it seems that the problem is not the ethanol but the effect of the plastic container on it. In other words the ethanol itself does not go off but that it can, with time, become contaminated by the plastic it sits in.
