Selfish, they've had over 500 confirmed cases of Covid in their offices and don't feel safe to be there. Would you want to work in that environment unvaccinated?

500 positive tests, or people with actual symptoms?. out of how many working there,
Our 3 sons who are all key workers, had to work throughout this pandemic and are still waiting for their jabs, but they are not striking, just getting on with it,

What I read earlier was 560 had contracted the disease out of 6000 employees, with the vast majority of the staff working from home it's hard to know how many people have been in the offices.

Could of course split it up into centres all across the country, then you might be able to go in person. Would have the advantage of being able to reduce the crowding in the current offices. If you’re really old/ ancient you might remember, if that part still functions, that it used to be like that! And they didn’t have computers to help them

Imported my Hymer 4th December, still waiting on my V5 UK registration from DVLA

their systems appear to deal well with the expected and the norm..

The problem is there is a lot ( particularly when you get to most of our age's ) that is not the norm and requires a human intervention.

It is then the problems arise, no one appears to want to be decisive and make a decision, therefore a correspondence trail then starts and each time you answer the question asked it arrives on a new operatives desk. who decides to ask another question.

its like taking the van for an MOT and a fail on a tyre, fix the tyre take it back, then failed on headlight, fix it take it back then fail on horn...... etc etc

you only have to read the tales of those who have done van conversions to the new DVLA spec and see the massive variety of decision making.

Had similar issue, requested my MP raise a compliant. Document arrived 4 days later and the reply to the MP 5 days later stating they could see no issue as the V5 had been issued. Make of that what you will but i got my V5

What a great idea!! I used to visit the local office and things got done. Now all the eggs are in one basket and look what happens, certainly not more efficient.

I sent in my licence as requested. It hasn't been received. I wonder what the Post Office does with the sack loads of licences that appear to have built up?! I have been waiting since November last year for a reply to my letters and more recently, my medical. I don't think it is fit for purpose.

The loss of the LVRO’s is a great pity, Back in the day I recall importing a RHD VW Golf, ordered new car from VW dealer in Gothenburg , drove it to docks on ‘trade plates’ accompanied by salesperson, ferry across to Newcastle, drove home to Norfolk, no plates. Paid HMRC what they wanted, attended the LVRO at Norwich in person and the paperwork was sorted out while I waited, all done.

That will be my next course of action, I did email them a ‘complaint’ a few days ago, and received an automated reply.

I’m not getting into a COVID war but the dvla employ 6000 people 500 have caught it that’s around 8.5%. Out of the whole of the uk there is around 15.5% caught COVID. I don’t know but I bet in a normal year the dvla have more then 8.5% of people off with flu or stress.
Its all about the figures they don’t tell you things like 20,000 a year die of flu, 30,000 a year die of pneumonia guess what they won’t publish last year’s figures so that’s probably 50,000 off the COVID number, 160,000 a year die from heart attacks but the goverment are pushing to reduce the risk of that are they because they make a load of tax out of the things we love.
The big thing over the whole of COVID is simple ICU BEDS people don’t realise how few your local hospital have, google your local hospital see how many ICU OR ITU beds it has then have a look at the population coverage for that hospital, mine has 9 beds for around 1.5 million people you have to laugh. The nhs has been stripped and stripped with the population growing. I’m front line NHS we all do it because we care we’re not going on strike because of COVID in fact most have worked twice as hard putting more hours in. How have the government rewarded us 1% wage increases but I’d like to say thanks to all the general public for saying thanks to us👍 means more then anything. People just being nice to each other is worth far more then money.
Thanks

I would have thought that by now they would have had time to organise a lot of them to work from home. My daughter has been working from home for since last April. Did they just want a week off in school holidays?!! :mm:
