Tried to email thr DVLA today but cannot access their site, or get email address. Whilst I appreciate the current situation, I SORNED my van 28/12/2021. With 8 full months tax left and still not received my refund. Anyone else had similar problems?

I’m also sorted got refund in 5 days
Have you checked the check a vehicle section to see if they have actually sorted it.☹️

Similar - as in no response from them - yup, albeit a different reason.

and me, as yet no response after nearly 5 weeks.

Waiting over two weeks for a driving licence address change. Web site says long delays

Must be a post code lottery because I just received a replacement cheque after 4 weeks for a refund from back in 2018. The letter was found in a very much underused draw whilst looking for a misplaced V5.

Managed to get onto their site and send a polite email, have checked and it is listed as sorned.

The DVLA did have a major outbreak of COVID a while ago, don’t know the present situation, but it did have an effect on it’s operation.

What I was told by their operatives last August waiting for the registration to come through is that while working from home, one employee goes into the office every day and collects the post and then drives round the various employee homes to distribute it between the staff........Can't scan and email apparently as it hasnt been invented in Swansea

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

I think someone is having you on. This multi story building is enormous and probably has sacks full of mail daily. There are just short of 5,500 people employed there. During the COVID pandemic, affecting staff as it has, I guess emails were the last thing on their minds, and contrary to your jibe, have been invented (your words) and do exist here in Swansea. I’m sure delivering mail to all these people in his horse and cart would take him at least two weeks.

My licence renewal final came through, it took seven weeks!

You can open an email conversation with the DVLA by using the Complaints/Compliments procedure within their online system. A few weeks ago I got an email apology and a new V5C within a few days of raising a problem through this system.

The DVLA is the same as many other organisations where communications work much better using their established routes of contact rather than an ordinary email. First contact emails are too easy to lose/forward/ignore or get lost amid the piles of junk. Using the official complaints procedure probably means it gets logged in as outstanding with an official number and seems to get dealt with promptly.

I found out about the benefits of this DVLA procedure from other Funsters who have said that it is the best way to get results.

Well I spoke too soon, my DVLA registration has just arrived in the post by special delivery, registered yesterday, only took
18 weeks from German personal import to receiving UK registration  Now, where can we go..........

I'm still waiting to hear from them in a meaningful way and will be making a formal complaint when I have my licence.

I'm guessing your import was from before final Brexit Day, so all done under the old rules?

DVLA (or the local sorting office) signed for my weight up-rate application on 16/3 and today it's showing as done on the Vehicle Check page exactly one month after receipt which isn't too bad considering that included a week on strike. Phew.
