Having upgraded the maximum weight of our van through SV Tech we submitted all the required paperwork (copies taken of everything!) 2 weeks ago through the post, astonished to receive our updated V5 back today in the Xmas post, even more amazed that everything is correct first time around. Having read others horror stories I was expecting months of a turnaround, guess just got lucky!

In a 'normal world' I guess a 2-week turnaround would be a perfectly acceptable and reasonable timescale.

But, as you say, because of the current circumstances: Covid; strikes, and horror stories about DVLA delays etc, then 2 weeks is indeed service to celebrate! :giggle:

Glad you got sorted so quick and thanks for posting the info. (y)

Nice to see someone praising good service for a change. I had a similar standard of service from DVLA when renewing my licence. 9 days after posting the form a new licence was in my post box.
Some do no doubt have problems but unfortunately we don’t often hear about the ones having no problems.👍🏻👍🏻.

After reading all the horror stories about licence renewal to retain grandad rights at 70 I got my application in early (26 November) my licence expires next February.
Got my new licence back today so good service from the DVLA only down side is I lose a couple of months on my new licence which runs from 12 December but heyho.

Im still waiting for my log book to arrive so i can register my up plating with them! (then ill have to wait again for the new log book once i update it all over again)
Its only been 5 months

Just having a look and four out of five posters have had good service from DVLA. That’s 80%. Not bad really. Keeping 80% of people happy is pretty good numbers to me.

BillandHelen Have they got it right? Their usual trick is to change the revenue weight but not the MAM. OK if you only use your van in the UK but if traveling further the MAM needs to be correct.

Lenny HB, now that’s interesting, SV Tech in their instructions for submitting state “ DVLA should have changed your revenue weight and the tax class. The F1 Max Permissible Mass does not change and is not required to.” That’s certainly what they have done. Is that only correct for UK not abroad? Thanks for the heads up.

In the UK they only take notice or the Revenue weight but technically the MAM (max authorised mass) is the max you can run at. So if going abroad I would defiantly get it corrected.
I upgraded my last van a couple of weeks for them to get it wrong, 4 months to get it right.
