I've just received my drivers licence back after having to renew the LGV date part of it.
I noticed that someone was asking questions about DVLA's timescales so to let them know, I sent my old licence and forms in on 29.May and received the new licence back on 11.June.
As the forms included opticians report and doctors report, I would suspect that this timescale would be pretty much the same for over 70's or other renewal type applications.

I have the update on line within 3 working days of posting however , after defending DVLA, the licence card rhat wast waiting for me is missing categories and will now need returning 😢

Unless you have a medical problem that gets your application reffered to the medical board 🙁

I’m a diabetic and have to renew every 3 years.
Last one in 2020 I did online and got the new licence 3 days later.
Luck maybe.

We had our medicals on 10th June, the postie has just been and the licences are back. We sent cheques and photos just in case.
mine wasn’t due until September and bless them they have dated it to September 2025, himselfs was due mid July and that is dated 20th June 2025. It doesn’t matter as in 3 years time it should be swop time for the MH and we will maybe!! downsize.

Thread title - 'DVLA Licence renewal time'

I would never renew DVLA's licence. because of abysmal performance. Remember what is recorded on here is only the tip of the iceberg.

Both of us renewed our driving licenses on line recently. Both came back within the week and have the correct classes.

As previously posted on here if you have to have a medical don not hold your breath as all this working for home is no good unless they can deal with it online which from personal experience this is a No No, as it is all on paperwork, and as most are opting to work from home and your paperwork gets posted to the office, which has very few staff you will be waitng months. All the Hooray Henrys praising them obviously did not require medical reports or to go for tests!
