I didn't receive a reminder for the renewal of my licence (73 on 31st July). I renewed it on Tuesday. The new one arrived today!

Alright for some, sent my application in on 4th May still waiting, licence comes up as expired on their site.

I renewed mine online as I wasn't bothered about retaining the heavy bit!

From various posts on and other forums/threads it appears that they might be dealing with all new applications swiftly, but leaving on the back burner those that are already many weeks old.

Yep sounds like, only a government body could do that and put the new ones at the front of the queue.

Then they will use the backlog as an excuse to be late processing new ones! Every Local Government department I consulted to, particularly Planning Departments, would complain about the workload, understaffing and the current backlog of say, six weeks. I would always ask if the backlog was increasing, and the answer was usually no.
I would say "You have enough staff currently to cope, you've just been lazy in the past and let the backlog build up. If you didn't have enough staff then the backlog would be increasing.".
Silence was the usual loud reply...

If i have a medical in a couple of months can I get my licence extended by 3 years as licence runs out on October but im 70 in may next year

Changed my wife’s car on Monday afternoon, VED remaining on old car arrived today, (refund).

If they are being measured, then they can prevent the new ones from being late, while the old ones will always be late.

neither did i get a licence reminder but a friend who has a birthday just a couple of weeks before did, mine must have got lost in the post i suppose, so i just did it online, new one received just a few days later..

Your'e lucky, I have tried to renew my licence due to moving house- they can't recognise my address!(Newbuild} on line.
I have tried phoning them,- always engaged, 30-40 times/day at different times......
Just hope I don't get stopped.

No reminder for me, but applied online Tuesday, arrived today (Friday).
No changes to licence required and no medical issues to report thankfully, but still impressed the new license arrived so quickly considering recent events. Just hope registration of new motorhome goes through as smoothly !
