Been waiting for well over 14 days for provisional - 5 attempts to use bot led chat and get thrown out when passed to a ‘person’ as the chat literally times out after 1 hour wait

cannot get through on phone.... driving me potty

anyone able to offer a timeline recently for a hgv provisional ... I keep saying will be tomorrow but it’s just going on and one

even tried complaints and no one available .... !!!

I have just had 3 V5's returned very fast, it looks like anything easy is ok but anything needing work seems to take forever.

I believe that they were on strike on 21/5 they have done several strikes in recent weeks due to staff saying that dvla are not adhering to Welsh government COVID workplace rulings.

I have been waiting for almost 10 weeks for my van to be registered. 😢

I only found out today that the dealership sent the forms off recorded delivery, but nobody bothered to check on the Royal Mail website to find out if they had actually arrived.

Its looking like it will have to be started all over again, another 6-8 weeks wait, bye bye Summer.

Waiting for a phone call from the boss-man tomorrow.

I phoned today for a new password reset for my cpc records, phone answered after 5 mins in queue and email sent straight away, I'm guessing its pot luck.

Trying to put cherished plate on my car. A week in and not holding my breath, still think the place is underfunded and not fit for purpose.

Dvla are diabolical beyond belief. They took the longest of the three stages you need to go through for a newly imported vehicle. The whole lot took just over 5 months. 5 months where we couldn’t use our van at all. I know what the op means when he said you can’t get through on the phone, nor to complaints either. They ask for a telephone number and email on the various paperwork but, use neither to contact you. They are a bloody farcical that need an overhaul.🤬🤬

8 weeks is the time quoted to get a licence back after a medical so I'm guessing your provisional will be similar

Got mine 2 weeks ago, took 13 weeks

That is the dealers fault. They should be monitoring the registration process and chasing up the DVLA if it is not turned round in the 2 to 3 weeks the DVLA give as the normal turn round time. To not even have checked the delivery and let it drift 10 weeks is incompetent. It suggests to me they probably forgot to send it off or missed out something important and it has been returned to them by the DVLA. Hopefully when they get their act together it will be a lot less than 6-8 weeks.

If the dealer blames the DVLA raise an online formal complaint using the DVLA web site. This seems to get much quicker results than any other method. You will need to get dates of posting and receipt of the recorded delivery by the DVLA from the dealer. If the dealer can’t find them then he is probably at fault.

This is the link to the DVLA complaints procedure. Don’t bother contacting the department involved first, it just wastes time. This excellent route was recommended by other Funsters, I think it started with Minxy Girl . I got a response within a few days and a corrected V5C a few days later.

Yes, I am sorry, I am just so upset right now.. DVLA are quoting 6 - 8 weeks not 2 - 3 and as they had been on strike for two weeks I was not unduly worried until todays phone call. I doubt very much that the dealer will give me the recorded delivery information. I am wondering if they are hoping I will pull out of the deal so they can find a buyer prepared to pay more.

You have every right to be upset.

My new van’s V5 has taken 6 weeks to come through, we picked up the van on the 16th March, Wildax the manufacturer not dealer, registered it the same day. We have been using the van , 27 nights away so far, while we waited for paperwork to catch-up. Know this is opposites of what some other dealers are saying/doing.

I can understand why you'd think that in this allegedly 'panic-buying'/sellers market period. What crazy times we're in  .

I did it online it's instant and new V5 in 3 days

Blimey guys this is very sad reading ! Gutted I’ve a van due June delivery and dvla are causing complete misery! Awful indeed! Wondered why I’m asked constantly if I’m a critical worker!!! Seems they’re in the sh!t and it’s pot luck 😢

I wonder how many people lie and tick the box for a critical worker and would it make a difference?!! it must be tempting!

(Not for me I must add, I am obviously retired!)
