Thank you DVLA !!(y)

My wife Margaret had her 70th birthday during Covid Pandemic. She was eager to retain her C1 classification but for a variety of reasons could not get a D4 medical either at an agency or the Surgery before her licence expired at age 70. She had to apply online for a 'normal' non C1 licence.

Time has gone on and a possibility of returning to Europe this winter prompted her to apply for the re-instatment of her C1.

We made an appointment with D4drivers at 11.15am on Sunday 14th August. Forms completed and checked by Doctor. We checked again before we left the venue.

Came home and completed form D2, wrote covering letter and sealed both forms, letter and current licence into A5 envelope.

Took it to post office Monday morning and posted it 1st class Signed For at noon 15th August.

Checked online A.M. Tuesday 16th and application had been signed for.

Checked online at 1830 this evening Thursday18th and lo and behold Margaret has a new licence starting tomorrow Friday 19th for three years including C1 Classification!

Thank you DVLA.

We are very grateful that Margaret has no medical conditions that would affect the issue of the licence.

So👏👏👏 to DVLA and 👏👏👏👏 to HRH for filling the form in correctly (don't always happen).

Not a retention of C1 at 70 yrs of age though🤔

Not quite as fat as yours namwaldog but I got it back in 6 working days :)
Likewise. Hubby got his C1 licence back in 6 working days despite us sending the forms off on the morning of the postal strike.

Yes thank your lucky stars no medical conditions as it took me 8 months, the only good thing was they had the decency to date it from when received so ther is a 6 month extension on it.

Does Type 2 diabetes cause any problems in getting C1 over 70?

Just as a cautionary note I am now over 9 months waiting (with medical conditions) I sent a form off three weeks ago confirming I would not contest my D1, I didn't really want it anyway but it seemed sensible to keep it initially anyway, why not 🤷‍♂️
I have checked the details of my license on the internet twice during this period and both times it said my full license had been renewed for 3 years. I haven't bothered looking since as it seems they make it up as they go along.

Another good result from DVLA today....

Sat 1 April 2023. D4Drivers appt at Carlisle.

Mon 3 April 2023. Completed and checked forms D4 & D2 with Driving Licence posted 1st class '"Signed For" at local Post Office.

Tues 4 April Acknowledgement from Post Office that application signed for at DVLA. at 1030hrs

Wed 12 April DVLA website...

Well Chuffed.
