I know the early Ducato suffered from the dreaded flaking paint problem, certainly up to about 2010 year, but when did this problem get resolved. From what year would it appear to have been eradicated. Any one suffering after 2010.

I hope none after 2010. I've just bought a 2011.

My 2017 has paint flaking off at the seams. I've been to the dealer and they've sent photos to Fiat Italy. Waiting for an answer. The warranty has expired and I'm skeptical how far I'll get with the latent defect approach. According to the dealer, the undercoat is solid and won't rust. They estimated a week for repair, which includes removing and reinstalling the windshield. If Fiat won't pay for it, then I'll either sell it or live with unsightly.

Didn’t know this was a general problem with Ducato, we are literally about to go and pick up our 2005 Adria Coral from the bodywork place!

Have had to have whole cab resprayed because of galloping paint flaking on cab body, under windows on doors and door jambs.

How long was it in the shop? Did the windshield have to be removed and reinstalled? What was the cost? Thanks.

Not flaking paintwork but the bonnet on both our previous Hymer 2012 and our latest 2018 have been a real issue. Bonnet going dull and yellow grinning through. Both had a ceramic paint protection at the dealers.
Led to believe as they are grp components that they have not had sufficient protection within the grp to fight off the UV sun waves. Pretty bad. On our current vehicle we will either have the bonnet ‘ wrapped’ or a resprayed and I will look to Hymer for the cost.

Very last of the 250x and there are odd bits on the roof
Extra high roof but I don't think that makes any difference.
I don't think the colour makes any difference have seen white and red ones with the same.

Perhaps they are now concentrating on inside paint work?

I have some minor paint “flaking” on my 2019 motorhome.

Color doesn't matter. This is a process problem which is not respected on the painting line. The primer should not be completely dry when the paint is applied so that there is adhesion of the paint layer. If the time between the application of the primer and the painting is not respected then the paint will come off. This problem is linked to the SIVEL sud manufacturing line, which is located in Italy at 66041 Saletti, Province of Chieti. This problem affects many vehicles that leave this factory. According to Fiat representatives, this problem has existed for 25 years. I don't know of any other company the size of Stellantis that has had a quality problem for such a long period of time. The painting process is a simple process which is mastered by all car manufacturers, this situation is incomprehensible for a company of this size.

Appreciate this was a few years back now, but how did you get on with the dealer, I’m in the same position now with my 2017

Is it a fault that fiat accept and are willing to rectify?!

Six months on from reporting the surface rust on the seat swivels, the dealer tells me that "it's only surface rust" so FIAT will farm it out to a third party paint company but they can't find one willing to deal with such a small task.

I'm surprised the seat swivels are down to fiat. Thought it would be a converter thing.

So did I. And I can't see how the convertor fitted "their" seats (with logo) without seeing the rust.
However, they are denying all responsibility and insisting that it is done via FIAT warranty.

It would help if the dealer had any get-up-and-go but we have chased them regularly without success: the last email from the Group Aftersales Manager (having been given a boot from the General Manager) said "I wrote a reply but I forgot to send it".

Our van conversion 2017 has silver paint on roof flaking, i just scrape the loose off and cover with smooth silver hammerite, not too big a problem unless it starts to come off elswhere, still not good enough in this day and age though!

But that is a Hymer GRP bonnet not Fiat.

Our 2011 Benimar is flaking on the bonnet and around the air intake.
