I'm building a van and I'm not looking at running services through the floor. Water, waste water, electricity and gas. How do you go about getting these sensitive pipes through the floor and then adequately seal around after?

Over the floor I will have insulation, then a vapor barrier, floor and carpet over. I want the floor and the vapor barrier sealed properly. I'm also quite mindful about these pipes and cables lasting over time.

I know it's a self build but I thought this topic has got a wider audience.

Anytime I drill a hole through the floor of our motorhome to run a hose or cable through the metal floor of the base vehicle I use black tiger seal to seal around it.. Great stuff it is.

Ok Gromets will protect the metal edge but it won't make it 100% sealed.
Gromets and then tiger seal over?

When tiger seal dries it is like rubber anyways, this coupled with the fact that tiger seal will protect any bare metal edges from rust better than just a rubber grommet over the bare metal edge of the hole.
Word of caution, if its something the you might need out again and is like and extremely expensive cable or lead I would probably sway towards a grommet combined with non setting mastic.

Would it be an idea to install pvc pipe and bond through the floor and run services through?
I don’t think water will travel up the pipe and that way the floor will be sealed all around. If needs be I can also easily remove or replace whatever is fed through the pipe.

That’s what I’ve done. Drilled hole, fed a conduit through hole, sealed conduit to floor with tiger seal, then pass what I want through conduit. A quick squirt of silicone up the hole, if you think it’s required, which can easily be pushed/poked out.

When I ran a battery cable through the floor I used some of this, very cheap and good
