Downsizing but what to look at?

some people have had leaks as someone at the build stage forgot to add the horseshoe shaped clips that stop the pipe pulling put of the push fit fittings. i dont think it was widespread, but on our 2018 Adria coachbuilt, i noticed we were missing some aswell, so i replaced the missing ones, very simple job if you can access the fittings,

i think a couple of people have had issues where they connect to the taps

Very pleased with our Burstner Eliseo. The C642 would give you the 2 lateral beds. Should be able to see one at the show.

Another vote for Consort. We have the Consort Oslo. He used to own Vantage.
That’s 3 recommends for Consort so I’ll be doing some research now and check if they are at the show.thank you 😁

After several months of looking at pretty well every panel van conversion on sale in the UK (including a trip to the NEC) we decided to go for a Vantage RIO, which should be ready for collection in March 2025. Looking around the factory in Leeds on one of their open days helped convince us to buy.

Cool, thanks.

Yes, as you can imagine they our one of the vans we are keen to see. HYMER/Burstner aren’t at the show in Feb so will need a find a dealer who has one as our local-ish dealer doesn’t.

Thank you and I’ve taken a quick look. I’ll need to spend a bit of time researching but the transverse bed would be a negative point for us.
For us it's not an issue as I use the rear transverse and hubby has the front drop-down however Lenny HB has the slightly longer one with twin singles.

I can vouch for that, Lennys is a fantastic van and if I didn't have a pvc or was changing vans again I would have the same van as his 👍

Def one of the brands I’ll look at. How do you find the build quality and road rattles?
Dippy9 I think the build quality is quite high. Ours is the 640SLB Supreme with all the extras apart from the third cab bed. The kitchen carpentry is excellent throughout & gloss cabinets really look the biz.

I particularly liked the layout as it has longitudinal beds with a decent garage space underneath. The beds are very comfortable.

We didn’t like dinettes really, mainly due to the TV being closer than we would like, but wanting to convert to a PVC we had to accept it really. The plus for us with this van was the huge heki above the dinette and over cab roof window made the dinette area very high and a feeling of space. The light coming in is fantastic. So a big win for us.

Lots of cupboard space and we opted for the smaller fridge so we had a hanging wardrobe, which we particularly wanted.

The only problem we’ve had since July 22 was the silly wired levering system for the waste tank and we had a tap fitted to the end of the waste pipe eliminating the valve’s need.

It’s a very nice looking van in and out in metallic silver & often gets admirers when away. The black windows give great privacy but you can see out amazingly well, not sure how they achieved this really

Yes some cab noises but not as many as our previous Bessacarr coach built

Have a look at Megamobil!
The 640 lounge is very interesting but looks quite pricey by the time the ‘essentials’ are added.

Edit…and I guess they’re not exhibiting at the NEC next month?

Thanks for the feedback. I enjoyed reading your new owner review as well.

They are, there is a 640 180 auto on the stand. I have just met a reviewer who is in our 640 at the moment and he loves it!

Perfect. They don’t seem to be coming up when I check the exhibitors list but I’m probably doing something wrong.

Another vote for Vantage. Have a look at the next show. Build quality and after service are incredible. We had a Hymer B544 before and thought that was well built but our Vantage is a few steps higher up the quality ladder. Have a look on their website!

We have a 141 singlreabedas that can be made into a large double, bigger garage but only a tiny big longer.

Difficult to run at 3.5t weighed ours fully loaded we were 300kg over, in the process of up rating at the moment.

When we were looking a couple of years ago, we were very impressed with IH PVCs. The quality seemed to be very good indeed.

In the end we bought an Autosleeper Kingham, the quality not as good as IH but the layout suited us better. And I can always fix the quality, but can’t easily change the layout.

We downsized from A class, and the one thing we miss most (well, I do anyway) is the garage where you can just chuck stuff. However the ease of use and driving (especially getting in and out of our drive) make this compromise worthwhile.

I have downsized from an A class Hymer to a Chausson X550 which has ticked the boxes I had.

5.99 metres, 2.1 wide, central electric bed, electric table. Bathroom across the rear which is about 3 times the size of the Hymer. Clever door arrangement which creates a large towelling/changing area. Is made as 4 berth with 2 travelling seats rising from settees but have removed these to make it into a 2 berth. Diesel heating (no hunting for gas). Got the one with 9 speed automatic and I am very pleased with it.

Possle vans - Globecar eg Summit Prime 640 which we have and really enjoy.
Is it the Twin single bed model ? If so can you sit up in bed if your back is against the rear door windows ? Thanks.

Agreed. Our 6.4m globe car CampScout is 14 years old and is still robust and comfortable. The latest Possle/Globecars are pretty much the same as ours and they are in your price rsnge.

Good Morning
We had a coachbuilt Motorhome and we have swapped this for a PVC. We now have a Rapido Dreamer D68 Select Ltd. We are very pleased with it. We had two trips to France last year, once in each MH. Even with out a garage we much preferred our current MH, Dolly the Dreamer Van. Good luck with your search. John

We downsized from a coachbuilt late last year, after a fair bit of research we opted for an Auto-Trail V-line 635 Sport, this is a rear U shape rear lounge and is within your budget, there’s also a brilliant V-line owners group on FB which is full of support and great tips,
No regrets from us, however there’s many on here who deride anything manufactured in good old Britain

We purchased a 2016 Vantage Neo last February. Excellent van and had no problems with it at all. There is a great owners FB site that is full of tips and advice.

I looked at the 141 and it does look like a super van but the weight inevitably means a C1 and we need to move away from that licence requirement now. It’s one of the reasons for downsizing.

There have been several votes for Vantage/Consort and I’ve watched some YouTube videos. They are firmly. On the list of vans to check out. Thank you for the recommendation.

British is fine by us.
