I have recently noticed an increase of posts where the OP askes a question and receives various answers/recommendations, but then fails to respond with more info or thanks. Most annoying:LOL::LOL:

Geoff

Yes I responded to the same person, asking different questions. Nothing.

It's annoying when people just use you but maybe that's a problem of being such a helpful happy forum

Maybe this will alert these people to at least acknowledge and say a thanks

Having been on other forums, it can often take days for a reply, this place is in a different league 👍

I pulled into a lay-by in Germany with a fuse problem posted, advised and resolved inside an hour 😳👍

new joiners would maybe never expect the rapid response time

I also think we miss out when people do not post their final resolution, thus denying us of benefiting from all the good advice and suggestions.
It's always good to know what the actual fault was.
Geoff

Seems to be mainly newcomers, no hello or anything, first post a question 😡

It happens a few times, but it’s certainly a tiny minority and plenty of those will be non subscribers who lose the post and because they cant search will never find it again to say thankyou. If it really winds you up I reckon you could be on the wrong forum. ;).

Suggesting people use search is also still common 🤷‍♂️

And as someone who asks questions ands hopes to remember to report how feedback went, I know using the answers and when next able to get online to write an update to the thread/question can be quite far apart.

Keep it casual and don't expect people to make diary entries to remember to write obligatory posts on a fun forum (y)
Or do we need more than one rule? ;)

If we're writing up rules how about making people read up on a thread to see what has been written already before they add a repetitive post?
Or making posts on debated topics come with referenceable info.

If it’s Free members I’m sure it’s just like Jim says because that’s how we came to join. We were in France in our old Autosleeper Symbol ES and the sliding door wouldn’t close properly. We googled how to fix it. Found this forum. Asked some more questions. Some were helpful and we nursed it to next campsite but then it got worse.

So here is some feedback, sorry it’s late, from 2012. We realised it would be unfit to drive with the door tied closed so called out the breakdown. They came to the campsite. The sliding door had come off it’s roller a bit. The man in his van did lots of magic fiddling and repaired it onsite. We were with Safeguard and in those days they had a few AA vans at strategic points throughout France in peak season who could do a lot of roadside repairs , this was way cheaper than the usual French idea of always towing you somewhere and then Motorhomers having to stay in hotels. We were near Nantes. We were surprised to see Liverpudlian Dave in a yellow AA van!

As a result we paid our £10 and joined Motorhomefun but probably not until we got home from France so there was no way we could have “fed back” to the thread. Would not have crossed our minds by then.

There seems to be a lot of moaning going on so I’m worried someone has been holding a grudge for 9 years and we’ve got 4 more Fun events to go to this year at least!

Will someone remove this flipping key from my back, its really winding me up:dance2::roflmto::roflmto:

Seriously though, I think it is a sign of the times, guy's out there ask for assistance and help via Motorhome Fun, when they are helped out of a jam they just carry on without a thought to say thanks. Thanks goes a long long way, with me it does anyway, I may even at time go OTT with thanks but that may well be I was so chuffed with the help.

So we help, sometimes advise, but in the end folks it is down to the recipient to say thank you or come back with a what happened, If they don't well we just say NEXT.

Flook:coolest:

Maybe first time posters should get an email explaining what they get free and what they get for the subs
I always seems that people don't realise there's an option to pay until they've used there free posts

Yes I received excellent & quick responses when I broke down in France enought to allay any problems I was thinking I could have re ;having the dog with me.

I sometimes cant find my own posts, perhaps a guide when signing up as to what goes where etc. Please do not let some of the comments deter anyone from posting, even if there is no response which can be frustrating as we can only sometimes be aware of a common fault developing if people write about it. I to have spent some time in trying to help others with no feedback. But I woke up the right side of the grass this morning everything else pales into insignificance. Just going down the garage to clean the cobwebs off our van.

As long as you keep your moans in this thread and remember rule one else where ;)

Next there'll be someone unhappy they didn't get a Like or they posted the answer that someone later duped and they got the Likes or worse the thanks.

3 years ago when i joined one of our first trips out we had the dreaded air through taps syndrome.Great replies from playing the tuba to broken filter cap👍.Recently Project2000 bed problem all sorted all thanked.
Now all I ask is for the correct lotto numbers for next draw 😄

125beer, lotto numbers easy peasy, not in the correct order but works every time --- They will be ----- precisely the ones that come out each time:coolest:

Cool eh...:roflmto::roflmto::dance2::dance2::dance2:

I would never not say thanks deliberately, but I must admit to reading a thread that was of interest to me only to find out that I started it with a question.
I blame old age and not enough hours in a day.

Chill out. If they don’t reply with a thank you. Take it on the chin or assume that you have solved their problem. We are to nice to worry about the minority. Who’s lost out not us they have for not joining our happy (most times)family 😂😂😂

PS thanks for all the help that I have gotten over the past. My arse is covered just like Flook😂😂

I think some of it is also that to a younger generation, the idea of paying to use a forum is rather.....weird?!? (only word I can think of to be honest). I remember myself when I joined as a free member...people telling me I needed to pay and subscribe in order to continue using and my first reaction was one of shock.

Not trying to stir anything up or cause offence, simply telling you my honest reaction at that time. I am VERY happy that I did so. I really do consider it the most valuable money I've spent on motorhomes and it has saved me God knows how much. I do also try to be polite and considerate when posting and thank those that have taken time out of their day to assist me or answer my random questions!
