We recently got rid of the heavy and bulky Isabella awning in favour of a lightweight Kampa Rallye Pro 390 at a sensible S/H price, but it didn't come with any curtains. I wasn't bothered, but Jan likes her privacy! A new set is about £140, so we, being self sufficient (meaning right mean!), decided to make our own.
We bought 8 yards of white remnant material (£10) and 50 genuine Kampa hooks (£12.99), and set to work. Jan made the curtains and I was set the task of attaching the hooks, which need to be predrilled as our little machine would not punch through them. I made a little jig- not the dancing sort- and very quickly drilled 200 1.3mm diameter holes, and, using the button sewing feature on the Husqvarna I attached some 30 of the 50 hooks. I was so proud of myself. However, when I tried to attach Jan's lovely pleated curtains to the awning rail, the hooks were upside down!
Today I had to remove them and start again...
Quick and easy drill jig.
These are the right way up!
