We recently got rid of the heavy and bulky Isabella awning in favour of a lightweight Kampa Rallye Pro 390 at a sensible S/H price, but it didn't come with any curtains. I wasn't bothered, but Jan likes her privacy! A new set is about £140, so we, being self sufficient (meaning right mean!), decided to make our own.
We bought 8 yards of white remnant material (£10) and 50 genuine Kampa hooks (£12.99), and set to work. Jan made the curtains and I was set the task of attaching the hooks, which need to be predrilled as our little machine would not punch through them. I made a little jig- not the dancing sort- and very quickly drilled 200 1.3mm diameter holes, and, using the button sewing feature on the Husqvarna I attached some 30 of the 50 hooks. I was so proud of myself. However, when I tried to attach Jan's lovely pleated curtains to the awning rail, the hooks were upside down!
Today I had to remove them and start again...

Quick and easy drill jig.

These are the right way up!

You will be doubly impressed when they snap off - and they will!

They are, when in the warm, ok and slide along fine, get cold and they stick and can snap add a couple of years and you will find they degrade and become fragile. Had them on several Conway/Pennine folding campers awnings. Never failed to let me down no matter how careful we were.

Perhaps the constant exposure to sunlight degrades the plastic. Probably best to restrict touring to Wales.

As a single bloke without feminine supervision I fitted all the hooks to the Rufflette header on some new lounge curtains and hung them nicely on the rail then pulled the string to gather them. It wasn't until I'd withdrawn about 2m of string that I realised too late that I should've pulled the string from their cut loose ends then tie them together. I just pulled all the rest out which has been smirking at me from the window cill for about 4 years now.

Thanks for the 'heads up' - but too late. The Gaffer did the same thing a couple of weeks ago
