It’s gone!!😢
Exp
4 years….
Just pulled up to the Stelplatz in Fussen and this beauty is parked opposite😁

Lovely looking van, don’t know the age but the old boy who is in it gave me a wave so will go talk to him later.

Any ideas why the stopped production of these?

Do you mean Carthago on MAN or MAN in general?

I am not sure, but just throwing this idea up for discussion:-

Is it the situation that the likes of Carthago, N&B etc. are going for the foothills of the up-market mountain and are leaving the upper slopes to the likes of Morelo, Concorde, Phoenix and the peak to Vario?

I can think of two factors that might influence this:-

1. Increasing market of buyers with only 'B' licence.

2. Van chassis being manufactured ex-factory at 4t plus. so no need to go to truck chassis for bigger vehicles.

I am not connecting points 1. and 2., but as different factors.

Carthago started dropping the big liners about 8 years ago. Their biggest selling vans now appear to be the tiddlers.

Shame these look more sturdy than The Liners For 2 they sell.

The Carthargo on the MAN, obviously not very popular as they would still make them?
I dont think they stopped that long ago, at a guess that looks 2012 ish to me. Theres somebody on here with an older one. Everyone used to use the MAN chassis because it handled well but AFAIK when euro 5 came along MAN wouldn't let them move the airboxes around.

I think they still make a daily version

Dealer: Exactly why do you want to reject this MH Mr. Lenny HB.

Lenny HB: Because it is a 'tiddler' and not fit for purpose to my High Blown position.

I think cooling for the exhaust after treatment played a big part, Vario still use MAN but as you know Eurocargo and Merc seem to be the weapon of choice now for everyone else, as for Carthago liners I think development costs for what was a relatively small market for them made it unrealistic, much like N+ B and the Clou.

That MAN looks proper, with adult size wheels and less like postman Pat‘s van than the usual big ones.

Exactly what we bought, not on the MAN which would have been perfect, then the sun came out at the delamination showed itself, rejected and got money back.

The Liner De Luxe was discontinued in 2015.
Lovely vans and still fetch good money.
