Hi Folks,

I have reposted my query here in the hope that more people see it.

I had some help around the start of this year with an apparent wiring fault, which I eventually traced to burned out connection within Block 1 of the EBL. With all the pulling and moving within the fridge enclosure one wire has dropped out of the terminal block mounted behind the fridge. I believe it could be a connection to the terminal marked with a key symbol on the Dometic drawing. Where am I likely to find the other end going to? I cannot go grovelling under my vehicle at the moment because of knee damage, otherwise I would make an effort to track it as far as possible. In my vehicle, the wire is coloured GREY, or it looks like it in the light I have here today. It doesn't help tracing things when, in two instances, there is a change of wire colour between the terminal block on the top of the fridge and the block at the rear.

Thanks,

John

From memory I think the key symbol is used to show the supply thats only on when the engine is running.
Hope that helps , we have same fridge and have the cct dgm.

As suggested the key symbol indicates an engine running relay operated HC power supply (from the EBL block 1 ?) for the 12v heater element

So using a meter, or just a test bulb, what do you get on this wire? When and if does it get 12v.

So, Mike (Mike800966 ) and Geoff (GeoffnDee) I should go looking for the supply from the alternator D+ relay. Weather permitting, I'll have a look tomorrow and report back.

Thank you

John

I think you will find that the fridge relay using D+ is in your EBL and block 1 , pins 4 and 1 are the output feed to the fridge 12v heating element , going to the fridge connection points shown as A (-) and B (+) (key logo) on your diagram.
What colour are the cables at block 1 at the EBL ?

The cables at Block 1, pins 1 and 4 are blue and brown. They are connected through to points C and D on the Dometic diagram.

A short piece of background.
I thought the fridge had failed and I sought assistance, both in the UK and close to home in France. I pulled the fridge out and found some unexpected voltages, but when I traced the wiring to the EBL I found the brown wire connection, Pin 4, burnt out. The EBL was checked by the local dealer and found to be working, but they couldn't provide / source a replacement plug and its inserts (crimps). I have bought them now from Italy.

I began to put the fridge back in and found the temperature control spindle had sheared so I am waiting for that to be delivered to the dealer. It has only been three+ weeks!!!

I'm waiting for the fog and frost to clear and I will resume my journey of exploration.

The 12v element draws of the order of 5 amps and overheated/burnt connections are very common. If its only the plug that is damaged and not the output socket then you have got off lightly.
I thought we started with a stray wire on the fridge?

John , the C + D connections are the permanent connections for the fridge electronics , have you checked if this is correct and if A + B are only powered with the engine running ?

I'm sorry I haven't replied sooner, but other problems have hit me.

I've now found that I've lost the 12V to the permanent connections and I have 12V at the "key" terminals. In disconnecting one of the plugs from the EBL two wires have pulled out of their crimps so I have been and arranged for the whole system to be checked at a dealership. First available date - 4 April. Hmm. A couple in front of me were given the same date as being the first available. They were booked in for the morning and I've been booked in for the afternoon

Thanks for all your suggestions.
