Hi

We are away from home touring and on site
and noticed that the fridge/freezer have stopped working on mains EHU. Elddis Sunquest 130 - 2011 Model

We’ve never had a problem before, so are now running it on gas. I’ve checked the fuse in the fuse panel in the lounge area, and that is ok. So I am now at a loss what else to do.

I’m no electrician so checking circuits etc is not what I can do.

I switched back to EHU after running on gas, but the freezer very quickly started to leak water again, melting very quickly.

So I’ve gone back to gas but wondered if there was anything else that is easy to check/do??

Many thanks

Is the rest of your 240 OK on hook up?
If so it could be low site voltage ask someone else if they have the same problem.

Yes. Everything else working fine. I had read about site voltage, and a chap a few pitches on from me said his is working fine?

This would be proven or not when I move onto my next site. Strange, the wife said when we were travelling down that the freezer wasn’t getting very cold on vehicle battery. Maybe it’s battery AND EHU??

Are you sure you don't mean Thetford N112?

It's probably the mains element that has failed, don't worry about it until you get home. They work better in hot weather on gas anyway.

The booklet that I have says Dometic but loads of models (not sure what mine is known as because I can’t find a sticker). The factory certificate says Dometic/Thetford N112/N175 (what’s the difference?). And a picture of the fridge in situ.

Almost certainly the 240v element has failed. It's not an expensive bit and quite easy to fit, although you'll probably have to take the fridge out. If/when you do remember there are several electrical connectors plus the gas supply. Take a photo before you start dismantling.

I wouldn't worry about it for now as long as the gas is working okay. Ours failed in the first week of our 3 month winter trip but the only replacement I could find was in the UK and would take up to 10 days to arrive - we don't stay that long anywhere. Leisureshopdirect will be able to supply the correct one. The sticker in ours is low down at the back, right hand side.

Different manufacturers, you have a Dometic. The model number will be on a label inside the fridge.
