I'm a newbie and always will be. You never know it all.
I have just bought one of the cheap Chinese streaming media boxes for the m/h. Not being a Techie I need some advice on the power supply.
the power supply to the the box is via an AC adaptor (13a Plug) the DC output on the plugs says it is 5v 2a would this be ok to run via an appropriate usb to barrel adaptor plunged into a standard 5v 2.1 a usb socket.

Simple answer is 'yes'. Use a branded / decent 2.4A USB socket which offers a little more headroom- some of the cheap ones are rather optimistically rated anyway.

Right now I've got you hooked :xwink: do think you could check these out and give me your opinion they are great for mounting inside cupboards etc. where you don't want a great big hole or haven't much space.

I've already mounted one of these and it would be ideal if I could just plug into it. It has its own separate power supply to a fuse box that I fitted for accessories directly from the batteries Again with my limited understanding of electricary I'm not sure what the 3.1a refers to. Is it 3.1a in total or 3.1a for each usb port.
