We are taking our dog on Brittany Ferries Poole to Cherbourg route in a couple of weeks. This is the first time since the rule changes. He will have his Animal Health Certificate but could someone tell me where in the process are the papers and dog checked? I.e at the Poole end, Cherbourg end or both.

Also does anyone have recent experience of this route and how long it’s all likely to take. Depending on how long it takes to get out of Cherbourg will decide how far we travel that day.

TIA. Chris

You scan the chip both ways.

They do a very quick flick through the AHC making sure chip and paperwork match thats all. Get your passport in France and you don't need your AHC to get back then.
