Does this have some subtle uses?

Yep, coffee pod store, normally only fitted if the coffee machine option is fitted.

Nope, they normally fit a 240v one and if you want to use off grid you will need an inverter.

Actually, it was fitted to all , irrespective of any coffee machine option we have one fitted , rather it was something else or more useful

At least you have some small shelves (spice rack?) to the right of the coffee capsule holder. Others I have seen have nothing - just a large chunk of blank (metal?) Seems ridiculous.
