Do I need a jack in the MH as we have not got one in ours and if so what sort and where from. Thanking you all in anticipation as we are taking it out for a first run either Saturday or Sunday

Call your breakdown cover to change it🤔I wouldn’t be lifting our 4500kg van with the Fiat scissor Jack on the side of a motorway for all the tea in China😊

Personally, if I need a jack I will not be using it I would call the AA 😉

Lets hope you ALWAYS have good phone reception. Personally, I would never be without one, its not just wheel changes they come in handy for?

What sort, I always carry one that will lift, at least, 50% of my vehicle gross weight.

After doing breakdown work for twenty two years I am very wary of working at the roadside. You won’t get the rear wheels off our Rienza with the issued Ford jack and it would only be the n/s front I would think about changing at the roadside if it felt safe.

Thank you everyone for your reply. I did say to hubby it is not a car and that we would have to call someone out if anything happened. Do you still carry a jack even if you are not going to change the tyre

Check under the passenger seat for a black plastic box or could be in the double floor somewhere.
Les checked under the driver and my seat but has not checked under the floor

Depends

if you have breakdown cover then you may get away with not carrying a jack

if not then i wouldn’t go anywhere in it without a jack and a spare wheel

I have a spare wheel and a levelling system fitted so no jack needed as I can lift all wheels off the floor. That said I also have a supplied jack under the passenger seat so hopefully all bases covered

if your prepared to pay £200/400 and sit and wait up to 8 hours for breakdown or assistance then go for it

Crikey your breakdown cover is expensive we don’t pay anywhere near £200🤔

i’m meaning if they have no cover at all Lenny

which if they haven’t i’d have thought a jack and a spare is essential

Al
We have no breakdown cover but now he is thinking about it. It was £75 which I don’t think was bad at all

My breakdown cover via Comfort is about £65 per year.

I also carry a Fiat jack,and a spare wheel,as a last resort.

The last time I changed a wheel was about 32 years ago on the M4 hard shoulder in the rain,on the way to somewhere called Wales where it rained all week.

Next time I get a puncture I will be phoning my breakdown company and hoping my money was well spent.

In my van the jack is stored in a plastic box that is then fixed down, so also look for things like that. You may possibly also want to locate the towing eye if your van is one with the removable versions.

It used to be nearly £200 just to be towed off a UK motorway. Not taken anywhere ,just removed off the mway.& that was years ago

seriously if you’ve no cover then please consider a jack AND a spare wheel

if you are thinking of cover then please be sure that your vehicle length and weight is acceptable to the breakdown company

i’m not converse with your motorhome so cannot advise you

happy and safe travels to you

Al 👍

That is putting me off going on a motorway unless we have breakdown cover now. We will not be going far at all this weekend now lol

I don’t have a spare, but still carry a jack, fortunately it’s never been out of its box 🤞🏻
