I have just received this kit foc from safeguard insurance ,it contains warning stickers and a bottle of DNA liquid . Not bad for nothing I guess and might help in the event or prevention of theft.

I would think that the protection offered is largely illusory - just the labels really. Writing your postcode in a few inconspicuous p;laces with a permanent marker may be better. Oh - and of course you did actually pay for it!

PS I scatter my own personal DNA all over the place every time I use the van.

Good idea, assuming there really is someone out there who checks over every spare part on Ebay and vans sold privately or from your local layby. Got that kit with my bike insurance so common but is it really part of a joined up system? Supposing a fridge is recovered, how would you know where the previous owner had applied the fluid, and thats a fairly small item. Just a marketing ploy by the Insurance companies.

Better than nothing - but only just.
I had my computer marked and labelled - but it was still stolen.
You look for the paint with an ultra violet lamp.
Apparently theives spray the lot with disco paint then it glows all over if tested.

Supposing a fridge is recovered
"Good news sir, we have recovered your fridge. We don't know where the rest of the van is though. Can you come and collect the fridge from our depot in Inverness as we charge £20 per day storage after the first 24 hours."

The point is mostly to aid prosecutions
If an illegal vehicle braker is caught the prosecution need to prove the parts are stolen
The fact every one "knows" they are stolen is not enough for court
The micro dots are a means of tracing rightful owner

It will not stop the scrote breaking in and pinching your Rolex

I bought electronic tags for the e-bikes from the local police when they were doing a security promotion.
A few years later I asked about these things, as they seemed to be promoting something else, and they said the scanner was in a drawer, somewhere, with flat batteries! There seem to be so many schemes yet comparatively little co-ordination. If your bike gets stolen you'll be given a crime number to refer to your insurance company, if covered, and that's as far as you can expect it to go. Should they recover a bike, i think they just chuck it in a compound and dispose of it if it's not claimed within six months. I doubt that police stations keep a set of all the different devices required to scan for and read ID chips, nor even look at the various on-line services that I've registered my ownership on.

#metoo, if I swallow some do I become someone else?
