Hi

I am starting to view motorhomes and have read about doing your own damp test when viewing with damp meter.

I wondered if anyone had a guideline of how to do this e.g. what readings are acceptable, where to check, the right kind of meter to use?

Thanks

Most Hab checks will allow a reading up to 20% this time of year. There will never be a zero reading as it is normal to have a reading of 8% .Natural moisture in the air. Anything approaching 25%would be a concern but acceptable. There are a few companies who think 25/30% is acceptable but personally...the lower the better. Hab Check will do an Independant check for you and will give you a datum from which to work from

as Kev and Carolyn has said the % and give you the right idea. as far as points / place to check it is usually corner seams of the main shell including joints of walls to roof and floor, edges / corners of windows or apertures & Sky lights, near wheel arches,
etc

Please don't be confused, if viewing a private sale you WILL need a non invasive meter,
I would not let anyone start jabbing holes here there and everywhere with a pinned meter in my van.
Hope you understand
