We have a booking with Direct Ferries leaving 20/01, returning 28/03.
We now find ourselves unable to take this holiday but do have someone very interested to take over this booking.
The problem is we cannot contact DF, the contact number says they no longer take phone calls everything has to be done online.
We don’t have their cancellation insurance.
Does anyone have any advice, if we are unable to transfer the booking to the interested party can we cancel ?

Are you able to amend the booking on line?

We can change the date online but unsure if we can cancel as we didn’t take out their cancellation insurance, if only we could speak to someone

Yes lesson learnt

Dont know if you have tried either of these phone numbers they were on an old thread.
try 01473 370910 or 020 7490 7737 first one is customer service.

Thanks I’ll give those a try

Why can't you make the amendment/cancellation by contacting DF online?
Our booking says we don’t have cancellation insurance so I’m assuming we can’t cancel

Thank you, I think we’re stuffed unless our health insurance can help.
I am going to email ferry@abta.co.uk to see if they can help

I had a booking with them I wanted to amend. Absolutely no way of contacting them.

I wouldn't even try again.

Hope you get some sort of resolution.

Why not try talking to BF direct? They should have a record of your booking.

If they won't refund the fare there's little point in contacting them or worrying about cancelling. They won't care as they have a paid-for crossing but you won't turn up.

I'd try talking direct to whichever company they have booked you with.

I did that earlier and got through to a lovely lady who looked into everything for me but couldn’t do a lot, it looks like even if we could have cancelled we are now to late, she said BF don’t allow name swops so doubt DF would and advised us to keep moving the booking if we don’t get any joy from our health insurance, so that’s what we’ll have to do.
she did assure me that DF are a genuine company just terribly under staffed and blamed Covid
thanks everyone for your input

They are a genuine company yes. But they are just agents. They get a cut from the ferry operators. The ferry operators tolerate them (and others) because they get them business. Problem is its harder to change bookings sometimes.

I always book directly with the ferry operator.
