My van is not very noisy, but I tend to not hear the clicking warning from the indicator, I made a couple of buzzers that worked from the repeater lights but they were obtrusive out-side and the sounds wafted into the wind on motorways, where I do tend to leave the damn things on. I found that the green indicator lights on the dash unit were tucked into the top of the speedo unit and were 'a'- not very bright 'b'- hidden behind the steering wheel rim.
I thought about doing something about the noise, but the relay is inside the printed circuit of the speed unit itself, and I could do nothing about it.
The green lights were very dim during the day so I set about attacking them. I removed the whole speedo unit from the bezel , 1 minutes work, then took it apart by unclipping 6 clips, 2 minutes more . This gives acess to the unit out of the glass when I fouund the black printed plastic that forms the background was just that BLACK the green light have to shine through it. gently unpeel the backing and gently scrapped the black ink off the front of the printed bit over the lights. Voila ! the black ink is no longer there and the LEDs are easily seen through the now clearer backing, took 10 minute more after removing the unit, cleaned it up and reassemble the whole thing and refitted it. The result is that the little green arrows are now visible for me to see in daylight.. I would have also like to be able to hear the ticker but the general cacophony is too great over 30 mph. I should however at the same time stuck more, KPH significant points on the MPH scale, but did not think about it but might do it later. I seems a stupid idea to make a speedo backing that does not have both scales on it to start with.. Even my Fiesta has that on it.
