Does anyone have any information about renting an apartment in Limasol for an extended stay? i.e. contacts of letting agents or private.

The only firms that we've had dealings with (for house viewings) is A20, Cyprus Resales and Fitzpatricks but they don't often stretch to Limasol.

There's a great FB page that will be able to advise you though. There's some really knowledgeable people on there who can instruct you on visas, medical, residency, tax, utility bills, banking etc, assuming that you intend to stay a while and not just 90-days.

You'll be able to obtain residency via a rental-only agreement so no need to partake in the €300,000 investment scheme. The solicitors will accept €10,000 instead of the stated 30K for your initial bank funds but, be warned, if you're not an investor(*) then it is likely to take up to 3-years to achieve full residency status.

(*) As we all know 'cash talks' in Cyprus so the action of investing in the country will always push you up the ladder by up to 18-24 months quicker. Crazy eh!

Chris, I've got a slight health warning for when you read the FB page; i.e. the folk on the forum are fab but the Cypriot system(s) is so weird and wonderful that no one applicant seems to do the same process as the other.

There was one example a few months ago whereby a chap asked about the process of opening a local bank account.

In the end he received some fab advice from eleven different people who, incidentally, had all opened a Cypriot account and in all eleven cases the process had been different for them.....

.......so the motto is be prepared for every eventuality.
