Just wondering where you have found best rate for obtaining Kuna in Croatia ? The ATM which are everywhere seem horrendously expensive !

All the banks there charge a fee it seems. I stocked up on cask from No1 Currency before we went.

This may not help but if the ATM asks if you want to be charged in Sterling or the local currency always choose Sterling. The conversion is then done on the international or visa rate, not the bank's own rate which will be worse.

With a fee free credit card you get today's bank rate on all payments without any charges.
Revolut is better than that, you can choose when to buy your chosen country. I bought some Euros at €1.20 earlier this year and then bought some more at €1.19 a few weeks ago, if you re changing today you will only get €1.17.

You can also set up a market order to buy x amount if it hits your chosen figure.

I've never been a gambler especially with money. The amount of Euros I would spend in any given year it wouldn't be worth the effort.
How much do you have to buy to make it worthwhile?

I just use a Santander zero credit card. For the amount we spend, can not be bothered trying to squeeze ever cent out of the money exchange rates. And it does not have a fee, it may not be the best but it's easy and worry free.
When we had a house in France and I was sending thousands at a time that was different.
