Thinking of going to Cuenca and probably stopping in the Calle Playa Artifical which seems to the most popular stop as there does not appear to be a formal aire. I would be grateful for any information anyone may have re the town and where to parkup.

Thanks John

We stayed in an aire down by the water to west of town. Its a very uphill walk to town, but there are paths so no need to take longer road route. No services were installed or available anywhere near so arrive empty/ full. Also 15? km northeast are some rock formations, small entry charge
This was winter 3 years ago.

Thank you Sandral, where you stopped sounds very much like the place i am thinking of going. It will be mid/late April when I will go.

Lovely place, when we went in February they had a heat wave and it was wonderful, everyone was walking about in shorts and t-shirts eating ice-cream. We got chatting to an English lady who'd lived there for a while and loved the place.

Oh, you MUST, simply MUST do the 'walk of death' across the high footbridge!

Just be prepared Cuenca is high, it will probably be cold in April and the river side parking is properly in the shade.
Lovely town though.

We got slightly "lost" and drove up through the cobbled streets to the large carpark at the top (y).

Part way up was a traffic light (showing red) which I decided related to a side road (LHS). I decided to press on through and was very lucky to only meet a scooterist, who looked a bit upset ! The roads, as with all old towns, are a trifle narrow.

Coming back down I followed a local bus and tried to obey all the signs .

Enjoy - Gordon
