Planning upto 90 days this autumn in Europe in Betty (1999 Rapido 749m) and Luna Dog.

Local crossing out booked (Newcastle to Amsterdam), then slowly head south following the sun.

Return journey date unkown, depending on how much fun we are having etc.
Question, - with so many chanel crossings daily at the "narrow" bit, is there any need to book in advance?

Any suggestions on the best/easiest way back to the UK from France ?
Ferry or Chunnel?
The spain to south coast ferries have mostly stopped then I think.

Many thanks.
(I have read many threads on this excellent forum, but this is my first post)

The Spain ferries run all year but the earlier you book the cheaper it is, I’m fairly certain that that applies to all ferries and the Chunnel.

On the way back it’s wise to book a few days in advance for lower prices. Too close to the crossing you pay top dollar. There should be a range of trains to choose from.
You can only use Tesco vouchers when booking from the UK.

3 years 30,000 miles UK and Europe.. Campsites and off Grid.
We always use the ferry and don't usually book until a day or two before - going out and coming back. Prices don't change - well not on Irish Ferries anyway.

We book return tunnel a few days before returning. Seems to get a better price and we have to book the vet as well about that time. Our routine is to book the vet for a Friday, travel up the 360miles from our usual vet on the Sunday and cross Monday morning on the tunnel.
We have had several vets in France with varying satisfaction. Having found a great one we stick with her. She can get a worm tablet into Meg who hates tablets which is more than I can without a load of cheese.

With a dog the tunnel is easier. I book a return as its very easy to change the date and time. I only book on the eurotunnel website, using the camping clubs always incurs extra cost and bureaucracy if you want to change things, which cancels out any saving. I do it all online and have often changed the day and time of the booked tunnel. One example, once when driving along the M20 intending to stay in the UK and get the tunnel the next day, my wife says, "cant we just go across now." I logged on changed the time and day and was in France two hours later.
