Hello all, myself and Mrs Dibblefish have just traded our first motorhome for a brand new one. Sadly it appears the new one is too high to fit under our current storage building. So store in the open as is, or buy a cover. Keep reading about paintwork being damaged by covers rubbing when windy. Thoughts please?

I covered mine this year, I cleaned it as well i could or thought i did the mould on the bit's i mist iv'e never had before and the paint is not the same its hard to explain,But i will cover it again this year as i want to protect it from the elements,All it took was another clean all over and back to normal.

Higher the storage buildings roof, I did ours 😎👌 w2f
I wish, unfortunately it is a long 20 vehicle roofed terrace which we rent one part of. I am currently in discussion with owners of site to see if we could scrape out the floor as we are only 20cm out, but I’m not confident over that possibility.

Hi & welcome! :hi: We have used Maypole covers on our caravans & motorhomes & so long as clean when put on & secured well we have been very happy with the protection they give but if you have a read here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/winter-covers-for-motor-homes.180115/#post-2934348 & search on covers on the forum you will find they are a bit Marmite with some having ones that did damage!
Yes that’s the issue, there is no definite answer, it’s going to come down to a judgement call.

We had a cover once. It was so heavy and awkward to put on it never got used, a complete waste of money.

Interesting, covers should be breathable or so they say, but I guess there will always be a temperature difference so mould can form between the surfaces. As you say clean as thoroughly as you can before covering.

I keep my motorhome in a storage yard. Most owners do not cover, a few do. When I visit on windy days I watch the covers flapping and sliding around and wonder what damage they are doing. Even the best fitted covers seem to get agitated on the very windy days. I also wonder whether covering up the ventilation points is a good idea. I have a ceramic coating and just let the rain rinses most of the dirt off.

The cover i have is a maypol so good make i alway crack a window open for air flow,I think it was the fact 5 of us in it leave alot of marks and going in and out to get bits in the winter probaly left dirty hand prints, And they are hard work to put on.

Rainwater might well be a problem then, I'd be very careful about that approach. Our garage is supposed to be flat with slight slope down on the drive and depending which way the rain is coming it still comes in under the front door🤔
